"Nice hotel with great staff"
The hotel is located right on the river and is sandwiched by beautiful mountains. The building exterior looks a little old, but it is very clean and well-maintained inside. The staff are very courteous and did a great job in making our stay a wonderful one. The food was very good and there was plenty of it. The hot springs are very nice, and massage was really good as well. I will definitely visit again.

"Nice hotel for a weekend trip"
Stayed in a Japanese superior room for 4 people; there were two beds but plenty of futon and blankets in the wardrobe in the room. Very spacious- plenty of space for us. You could rent board games from the front desk, which made the night fun. The staff were polite and friendly, but you really do need to speak Japanese as restaurants and onsen were located elsewhere in the area (there is an onsen in the hotel but it was reservation only and cost ¥3100, as opposed to ¥500 at their sister hotel). The only drawback was location- it's about a 20 minute walk from the station, and 10 minutes away from the nearest convenience store/cheaper restaurants. That normally wouldn't worry me but it was raining the whole time we were there. If you're only going to Nikko for the World Heritage shrines and temples, it's probably better to stay near Nikko station as it was at least a 30 minute train ride from Kinugawaonsen station. Other than that, a great place to stay!

"Lovely place that is value for money"
May be difficult to find initially. After alighting at Sogo Kaikan-mae bus stop, just follow the river and it will lead you to the Inn. I tried using Google and it leads me to up and down the roads, which can be a struggle with heavy luggage. Good location, within walking distance to the tourist spots. I appreciate it being away from the town area so that I can enjoy the river sounds and the beauty of nature surrounding the Inn. I needed help to book an overnight bus and the website is only in Japanese. Mr Kinya put down his reading and tried to help me. The website is not easy to navigate and he managed to do it in the end. He even brought out his printer from the store so that he can print the reservation for me. He has never once display any frustration or wanting to give up. I felt so grateful for his help, without which I would have a harder time to continue with my travelling. If it is only about location/facilities, I guess anyone anywhere can replicate it. But when it comes personal service, it is hard to reproduce the dedication and warm service of Turtle Inn Nikko. :)

"Nice, cheap hotel for Nikko"
This was a very nice hotel, close to the temples at Nikko. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had a nice but small indoor/outdoor onset. Rooms were a bit old and tired. Beds were very hard.

The hotel was quite distant from the station and was at the other side of the bridge. The staff were courteous. The room for two was spacious and the view was of the river was the best part.

"Mountain Road Retreat"
The hotel is secluded and surrounded by nature. We enjoyed the onsen and private balcony. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style. All staff were very attentive and pleasant. There is a shuttle service to book in the morning and afternoon up to 5pm. If you want to stroll in town in the evenings a taxi would be required at 750 JPY. It is a nice hotel for relaxing but not in the centre of town and quiet.

"Weekend relaxation away from the hustle and bustle"
Nikko is a sleepy town, but that will come in handy for many visitors weary of the pace adopted in Tokyo. A day trip will be sufficient to see Nikko as there is not much to see - however if you want to relax, this is a good hotel to stay a night in.

Tochigi is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Tochigi, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Tochigi hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
