"Great location"
I stayed here because I found a review on another site saying tattoos were ok at the onsen. That was true. The onsen, however, was a bit basic. The staff, although they couldn't speak a lot of English, were extremely kind and welcoming. Even helped us locate a lost bag by calling the bus company and train station for us. The big selling point is the location. A bit of a walk from the station. But an easy walk to all the sightseeing spots.

"Amazing Onsen Hotel 100m from Shinkyo Bridge"
A wonderful stay in June 2014. I wanted a full onsen (hot springs hotel) experience, and my daughter and I had plans to fully explore the temples in Nikko. The location was superb - 100 meters from the red Shinkyo Bridge, and right at the entrance to the temple areas. The carving that gave rise to the saying "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" is a 15-minute hike away. The only downside is that there aren't many restaurants in this portion of Nikko, so you have to walk or take a bus or taxi to the main area of town. There is a fine steak house just down the hill from the onset, but be sure to check its hours, since it closes early. My first choice for a stay in Nikko!

"Great hotel in the mountains"
I really enjoyed this hotel. Although the room was Japan-style (sleeping pads on floor), the three pads provided plenty of cushioning. Besides two heaters, the comforter was literally four-inches thick. The low table and zaisu (chair without legs) made the room very comfortable. I loved soaking in the onsen also. Since you sleep and relax at floor level, don't book this room if you will have trouble getting up and down. The common area of the hotel has regular chairs and tables. Like 4 of 5 hotels where I stayed in Japan, the bathroom is very small. Use the hot tub if you want to soak. This was my favorite hotel in Japan, including a western-style room in Narita with double beds and larger shower.

Nikko is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Nikko, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Nikko hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
