This was old house converted into a rent-a-room hotel. The room was clean but it need some maintenance. The prices was low and reasonable. I really enjoyed sitting outside in the evening and enjoying a beer.

The room was lovely, big in size and nice bathroom but a faint smell that we couldn’t work out. Breakfast was amazing. The hotel is in a great setting looking out to the water but there’s nothing at all around it so we had to taxi to South Queensferry which cost us £22 one way.

The Torphin was a great place to stay while exploring Edinburgh. Easy access to the bus and lots of restaurants near by. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly.

The staff seemed nice enough but our room was on the second floor which was constantly where the trades and staff put their carts and equipment which made it feel like our room was in a noisy service hall. The rooms are nice and well equipped but could use some updating. The door to our bathroom didn’t close properly as it was off kilter and hit the tile floor. Great location and history to the building. Was expecting something more upscale. I would recommend it but change your room if they say floor 2.
