We didn't quite get the full experience due to severe rainstorms eliminating any potential of enjoying the outdoor amenities, but as a stop on the way to the east of Iceland the hotel was very reasonable, clean, and comfortable

"Beautiful Hotel But Needs to Be Maintained"
Check in is via a phone located in the lobby which was answered quickly when we arrived just before 8 pm as noted on our confirmation. The hotel is a beautiful newer 2 story log structure and our room was spacious, but located on the windward side during a gale and one of the casement windows was bent and had a half inch gap that whistled unbearably and caused a cold draft. I called after 8pm to report this but no answer. After 2 tries I let it ring for 3 three minutes until it was answered and a staff member arrived within 10 minutes. He said he hadn`t seen the damaged window before but when I pointed out the signs of repeated attempts to force the window into its place instead of fixing it, he agreed that it was very old damage. He said the hotel was full and that we would have to endure the noise but he would move the bed farther from the draft. Instead I got the staff member to go outside and push the window in tighter and had him fill the gaps with toilet paper. He wanted to leave and passed me the toilet paper roll to finish sealing the window. Heavy rain during the night and winds caused water to pour in the room between the logs. My wife soaked several towels trying to protect the floor and in the morning I spoke again to staff and showed the black water stains on the walls obviously noting repeated leakage. I was told the owner doesn`t listen to them about maintenance and that I should call him directly.

"Not as nice as the pictures, but tolerable"
This is an unmanned guesthouse that requires the use of a door code to get in. Best to print off your confirmation email or write down the necessary codes before you come because wifi is not great at this location. The room doors are squeaky and loud and the shower was difficult to use, but the overall experience was good for our needs. It was clean and tidy. We just needed a nice place to sleep and explore the area so it was worth the money and the location. We did get lost trying to find the location because it was dark and there was no one answering the phone when we called for help.

"Reasonable Place "
Stayed here after finishing the Golden Circle sights then used it as a base for a drive down the South Coast to Vik and back. Good location in this respect. It was a fairly comfortable quiet hotel.

"Well equipped apartments "
Location was near a lake, as well as facilities such as heated swimming pools and spa. Also located along the golden circle route, near to Strokkur and Gullfoss. The accoms was rather roomy, and well equipped with a kitchen, living and dining rooms. Only issue was the lack of wifi, which was advertised as available during my booking, as well as on the memo in the room. Attempt to contact the apartment owner via email was left unanswered. Overall, this was a pleasant stay, if you can overlook the lack of wifi and hotel services, since this is not a hotel technically.

South Iceland is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in South Iceland, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your South Iceland hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
