The property is gorgeous and in the best central inner harbour location. Service was exemplary and the staff was as attentive and wonderful as one would expect from such a storied lodging. We attended afternoon tea one day and it was also marvelous, delicious and lovely. We had a king room with "city" view - mostly because we couldn't remotely afford anything with a harbour view, as we were there on a weekend in peak season, mid July. In our case, the room was on the first floor and the "city" view was in reality a view of the other outside walls of the building, roof equipment, etc. Two complaints about the washroom in the room. First, a rain style shower head shouldn't be the ONLY shower head. The glass half-enclosure was odd, and made it difficult to actually turn the shower on without standing in the tub and trying to dodge the initial cold water output. Second, the toilet tissue was so far back and under the sink countertop that it made actually dispensing the tissue awkward and difficult. The bed was very comfy and the A/C worked very well. Our HUGE complaint about our stay was the fire alarm that went off after midnight on our first night. The entire hotel evacuated in a very poorly run and badly routed event that if real, would likely have resulted in injuries and worse. There was zero information offered or provided about what happened and zero was done to offer ANY kind of compensation to hotel guests for this. So, our experience was certainly mixed.

Our room was stunning, with wood panelling from floor to ceiling. It was very spacious, and the bathroom had a clawfoot soaker tub and separate ultramodern shower. Although we were in a 19th century farmhouse, it was very thoughtfully renovated, complete with central AC, which was a nice touch. The continental breakfast was fairly simple but decent, with many healthy options such as fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, bread, cheese, and yogurt. The chandelier lighting in the bedroom was very dim, which made it hard to see in the evenings. While the bedside lamps were extremely bright, they didn't make up for the dim surroundings. Also, it would be good to leave a small bottle of milk and plant milk in the shared fridge once breakfast is over so that guests can add that to their tea or coffee during the rest of the day or evening. Apart from that, we had a wonderful stay. It was very quiet, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back again in the future.

We booked this hotel through Expedia and upon arrival , without being informed we ended up being placed in a pet friendly room . I have allergies and immediately became congested and my eyes were burning and puffy after being in the room a short time. We were told by the staff that they were not responsible because we booked with Expedia and that was the only room we could have. Needless to say it was a very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience . We won’t be back !!

Firstly, the Days Inn at Uptown Victoria is a motel not hotel as listed. Our rooms were accessed from the outside which made feeling secure a little less. The rooms are dated, with the toilet being small and lower to the ground and the tub very small. The sink was outside of the bathroom and located beside the bed. The bedding was clean but the beds are situated on a metal skirting that made a tin can popping sound every time you moved and the A/C was right beside the one bed making it hard to sleep in because of the air flowing over. There was no way to divert the air so we ended up using only one bed. If you turn off the A/C it got very stuffy. The TV is cable only with one movie channel. This was all easily tolerated but the floors were very dirty, not understanding why our socks were so black. I thought it was from our shoes but it was all around, not just where we walked.

Overall, we had a nice stay! The location is excellent—within walking distance of downtown Victoria and just a block from the waterfront. The area felt very safe, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Although the building entrance is in an alley, it's a well-maintained pedestrian walkway, and the building has good security with keypad access at both the front gate and elevator. The suite is essentially a one-bedroom Airbnb with a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and a small balcony overlooking the alley. It was a comfortable size for two people, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches like cold bottled water in the fridge and Netflix on the TV. Our host was friendly, responsive, and kindly allowed us to drop off our bags early at 12pm. A few things to know: because of the nearby restaurants, there was quite a bit of noise on Saturday night from people talking and laughing in the alley until around 1 a.m. The sound echoed, and the walls seemed fairly thin, making it difficult to sleep even with earplugs. Sunday night was much quieter. The blinds also let in a lot of light from the bright alley streetlights, so an eye mask was helpful. Blackout curtains would make a big difference. We also found the central temperature control wasn't very effective, and while the standalone bedroom AC cooled the room well, it was quite loud. If you don't mind bringing earplugs and an eye mask, this is a great place to stay thanks to its fantastic location and welcoming host.
