The Little Haven Hotel next to the beach in South Shields is clean and quiet. The High Street, Metro, and North Shields Ferry are within easy walking distance. The cost of our stay included breakfast. The variety of food options was good.

Good location next to beach. Although there were wedding parties both nights of stay, these weren't noisy and didn't affect enjoyment of stay. Breakfast on Sunday was chaotic - restaurant kept running out of food/juice etc and no booking system in place - hotel must have known it would be busy and planned accordingly. Also, replace toasters - totally inefficient

The property around the hotel is lovely. We enjoyed walking the beach. Walking paths are well lit and beach was pretty clean. Getting two key cards for the room to work was challenging. Restaurant service was lacking friendly service and food was average. Night porter was very nice.

A few recommendations

Would have liked a to with arm to move tv so you can sit on sofa and watch. Also toaster at breakfast needs replaced. Mini fridge in rooms would be nice

Sadly my stay was spoil by the barman in the wedding swearing at my wife when she asked politely for some ice just after bar shut and told here to go and fetch it herself. Sad as the place is lovely and we would have come back

Location beautiful. Noise and thin curtains, woke up at 5am and wedding parties till 2am in the mornings, had a three day stay and not a goodnight sleep on any of them. Spoke to staff with no outcomes, could have moved us , I have stayed here on a few occasions and need to be thought of better. No hair dryer , iron or fridge. It was expensive and the hotel needs an updating make over, breakfast was out dated and requires a new menu to cater for all.

Relaxing stay with amazing views of the Tyne

Friendly and efficient staff. Views of the mouth of the Tyne are amazing. Easy parking Despite the fact there was a wedding going on during our stay our room remained very quiet throughout our stay.(We suspect our room had been chosen by the staff well away from the celebrations) Restaurant staff managed service very well coping with a large bus tour and individuals

After staying at the Little Haven for the last 20 years(with 4 generations of family) I’m saddened to be writing this review. The Hotel has seriously declined & is in need of a total renovation. The new owner (in my opinion) is relying on its location to bring in business. Our ground floor room had restrictor/safety locks snapped off ( so we couldn't leave a window open) not good in hot weather. Furniture in rooms is the same as 20 years ago - warped bubbling wood, window blind slats missing(again not good on the ground floor with people walking by). The restaurant situation was shocking. At breakfast, we found that food wasnt replenished allowing for all guests to be offered a variety of food. One morning there was no fruit or bread left. Reception staff seemed to have lost their smart dress code(giving the hotel an unprofessional look)! On our most recent visit we had a total of 7 rooms booked & moving forward we have all decided to stay elsewhere on our next visit to sunny south shields.
