The lobby area was really nice and the staff were lovely. The communal areas were being constantly cleaned so that was great. We would have been really happy if we hadn't had to pay so much. The price had clearly been raised for the bank holiday weekend / festival weekend / Liverpool FC parade weekend and it wasn't reflective of the facilities. We couldn't sleep because you can hear everything through the walls and it's noisy all night, and the sheets were ripped in places, dust on the back cushions and hole punched in the bathroom door. None of this would have bothered us if we paid less but it was just overpriced for what it was unfortunately. Would 100% come back and recommend to people if the price was lower, but on this occasion we had no other options so had to pay the high price.

I wouldn’t suggest anyone stay here it’s a loud party hostel and the guests play music here all the time and the staff have to be told to go tell them to turn the music off at 8am in the morning so I wouldn’t recommend staying here also my shower door didn’t close so water was getting everywhere but if you can get over that then you can stay here but I won’t be again.

The staff were helpful on arrival, smoothing out a booking issue. One disappointing thing was that the kitchen facilities are no longer available (closed for a refurb, but other reviews suggest they've been closed over a month). I wasn't told before arriving in at check in, and this was part of my reason for my booking, and I spent a lot more money buying hot drinks over my visit, so this was frustrating. The location was good, the rooms were spacious, and although dated and an old building, the facilities were OK. My bunk bed was very creeky, low on the floor and not particularly comfortable (with a broken bedside shelf). It was nice to have a privacy curtain and plugs by the bed. When I was collecting my luggage, there was no staff and several people had been waiting 10 minutes to leave their bags, in the late morning. I tried the luggage room door handle and it was open. So the positive was that me and others could access the luggage room instead of waiting for staff to arrive, the negative was that the luggage was completely unsecured and people were frustrated they had been waiting needlessly for 10 minutes for staff to appear

Atmospheric Hostel, spruce up it up please :-)

The hostel was clearly in the middle of a refurbishment, it seems like parts of the building have been disused for some time, bed comfortable, clean sheets, electrics, curtains for privacy, shower and hot water, friendly staff, just needs a bit of a spruce up, on my previous visit the atmosphere was vibrant and lively, the building has great character, hopefully it gets the TLC it deserves, meet some other interesting travellers as well!

Basic and cleanliness not up to scratch

It’s a hostel so it’s fair to expect basic but there was black mold all over the bathroom ceiling and my feet were dirty after walking round the room after showering so cleanliness isn’t great either. Hostel is attached to a bar which is good though and 24 hour staff.
