"Great staff, clean rooms, great valet"
The room was very clean, the staff was exceptional, the valet service went out of their way to drive us around and helped us with a couple other places other than the airport - they truly cared about us and wanted to give us a great experience. Great experience

"Nice price. facilities not great"
No wifi for 2 nights which was bad because we relied on that for communicating to America. When the wifi came back, it was the slowest wifi. My room did not have any heating, just a portable heater. Only 1-2 free wall outlets. Gym is on the outside of the building so you have to walk outside. It doesn't feel very safe outside the hotel. There was a drunk man in the lobby (a friend of the staff) who was yelling at me and my roommate and harassing us. Good things: Breakfast was great. Staff was friendly. View from hotel windows was nice. Peaceful and quiet and night. Housekeeping was pretty good. Tall ceilings make the area spacious. Studio style, so if we stayed longer, we could have cooked in the kitchen.

"An exceptional boutique hotel experience!"
I was prepared to enjoy my stay at Clico given the hotel's high ratings on Trip Advisor, however the experience far exceeded my expectations. I arrived in a car from Joburg airport at 1am - the hotel staff were waiting for me, greeted me warmly and offered to prepare a meal or bring me tea. This care and generous attention characterized my whole stay - all the staff called me by name, they asked after my day, and they were so thoughtful about little ways to make my stay special - from charting my jogging route, to calling my taxis and planning my daily schedule with me. The room was very clean and spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom sparkling (with great water pressure). The hidden gem is really the restaurant. The chef has created a sophisticated but approachable menu. I had an incredible meal of Asian vegetables and glazed tofu that I will not soon forget. I will be recommending the team at Clico every chance I get - thank you all for hosting me!

"Beautiful hotel with gracious staff"
The only caveat that I would have is that anyone with mobility issues should let the hotel know so that they can place you in a room that is easy to access. The hotel consist of a collection of buildings on a steep incline. While I enjoyed the view and had no problem with climbing the series of staircases, I can imagine that older or less fit guests would need to be driven to and from their room in the golf cart which the staff is always happy to do. While not unusual for Johannesburg, the hotel is not really walking distance to anything. However, Uber is quick, clean, safe and a bargain compared to taxis.

"Wonderful family accommodations by the airport"
My two teens and I had a 24 hour layover in Johannesburg. The adjoining family rooms were perfect for all of us to have a comfortable bed and restful night. The included breakfast was quite ample and we all loved the pancake making machine! The staff were friendly and helpful. I just wish it had been warmer to enjoy the pool!

Johannesburg is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Johannesburg, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Johannesburg hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
