I recently stayed at the Royal Grove Hotel for a week and left with very mixed, but ultimately positive, feelings. This isn't your modern, sleek Waikiki resort, and it doesn't pretend to be. Think of it more as a classic Hawaiian throwback with incredible heart.
The Downsides: The Rooms Are Dated Let's get this out of the way first:the rooms are old. The décor is straight out of the 80s/90s, with patterned carpets and furniture that has seen better days. The air conditioner in our room was quite loud, and the bathroom was functional but very basic. If you're looking for a luxurious, modern room with high-end finishes, this is not the place for you. You're paying for a place to sleep and shower, not for a resort-style experience.
The Outstanding Upsides: Why You Might Still Love It

You simply cannot beat this location.It's just a 3-minute walk to the world-famous Waikiki Beach, and you're surrounded by an incredible array of restaurants, shops, and cafes.
