We’ve always loved staying here. It’s a beautiful hotel and great location. I do have to say the service was lacking from the start on this stay. The valet was visiting with 2 other employees on arrival and then got on his phone. We started unloading. He finally came after we were unloaded, asking for check-in info and never offered assistance, a cart or anything. Upon checking in the guy at the reception desk seemed bothered that I’d booked through a “3rd party” and told me he had to fix something in the booking because of it. After he finished checking us in, he repeated his issue of having to make a correction on his end because the “3rd party” hadn’t done something correctly. I felt it wasn’t necessary to complain to me about it but rather just do it and a welcome would have been nice. It was very off putting. upon ordering breakfast for room service the menu has no option at all to order drinks with your meal, so i called to find out what to do. The lady didn’t know and seemed unaware there wasn’t a way to order. I asked if I could add 2 orange juices to the order we were submitting over the phone. she seemed bothered but said ok. We received 1 orange juice but was charged for 2.

The new apartment was a delightful surprise. Across the street from the main hotel. The rooftop cocktail lounge is a delightful addition. Only complaint was that valet parking left too many long waits.

Yearly Galveston trip!

The Hotel has changed dramatically in just a year. Pillows were too small. We miss the old historic hotel from the past. The bar on the first floor was excellent!

The Tremont staff were courteous and helpful with anything we needed. And Ryan at the Front desk was exceptionally welcoming. He even arranged for us complimentary champagne and dessert since it was our anniversary. The hotel was clean and quiet and perfect location for walking on the Strand. However, there were a few issues. There were no coffee pods and etc. so we had to ask for that which the maid brought after awhile. The toilet wouldn’t stop running periodically and wouldn’t flush, the tv didn’t access the channels listed that we selected(even after a Tech came to fix it), the digital clock was not set to the accurate time and the ice machines on two floors wouldn’t work after we tried both. There was no microwave in the room but it did have a fridge. While these may seem like minor inconveniences, if this is to be a 5 star hotel, there shouldn’t be so many. It’s such a beautiful hotel and we loved the history but we didn’t want to encounter so many issues. I am guarded in recommending anyone stay there but hopefully they will not encounter the issues we did.
