We have been vacationing at Las Brisas MORE frequently. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful. Rooms very comfortable, beautiful views of Acapulco Bay from our cabana, with private pool. Bella Vista Restaurant is excellent dining.. PRECORE equipment in the gym is "top notch". Leo, at the SUNSET Bar is very professional and a lot of fun! Watching the sun set, with a delicious drink in hand, at the SUNSET BAR is spectacular! The 'wake up" treats delivered to your cabana every morning, between 7:00 and 8:00 A.M. is so nice. Just take your morning treats out to you private balcony and enjoy the beauty of Acapulco Bay and surroundings Their PRIVATE beach, "La Concha" is also not to be missed, including the excellent sea food restaurant. SUPER NICE and so difficult to leave!

This hotel is located in the perfect setting. It has its own private beach, perfect sand and the very best staff. It is off the beaten path from the rest of Ixtapa, yet the area maintains a much higher look and feel than The rest of Ixtapa, and it has quick and easy access to all the sites around Ixtapa and Zihuantanejo, all of which are only a few minutes away. I found this hotel on Expedia and selected based on its price, which was relatively low cost compared to many others. It also had a fairly good ratings, which I now understand better. The private beach makes all the difference in the world. There are no vendors or solicitors, no trash and no criminals. There's also a lifeguard plenty of shade and lounge chairs along with a full service restaurant with waiters serving you while you sit. The restaurant has at least four other restaurants as well as stores, coffee shop, massage, and gift stores. If you don't like to leave the resort, The Las Brisas resort makes it so you don't have to.
This part of Mexico has proven to be quite a bit different than the others I've been to. People are much more friendly, the price of almost everything is much lower than other places in Mexico, and you still get plenty of local culture. I highly recommend this hotel with her you are traveling within Mexico, from the United States, or from Europe or Asia.

We enjoyed our time at the Barcelo in Ixtapa. The staff are very nice and pleasant and always ready to help in any way. We upgraded to the premium lounge level, which gave us an ocean view room and free room service and wi-fi which was a huge plus, especially for the kids. We also made use of the premium lounge because of its air conditioning. A few things were a bit disappointing - they were redoing one restaurant (of three) so we only had two a' la carte restaurants to choose from (though we enjoyed them both - steak and sushi). It would have been nice to have another option or two. Also, there are no air conditioned buffets and and it was a hot week (which is why we sometimes went into the premium lounge). Also, I recommend that box lunches be included if you pay for the upgrade. I would have liked that for our excursions, but was told there was an extra cost.
The pools were beautiful and well taken care of. The pool side games were fun and the snack bar had good food. We also enjoyed the buffet at breakfast (we didn't eat there for lunch for dinner, so can't comment on that).
The ocean has soft white sand and nice waves for the the kids (and us) to play in. Gorgeous sunsets too.
I would recommend Barcelo.

Gorgeous hotel with the most spectacular view I have ever seen. Very attentive staff. Beautiful room with a balcony overlooking Taxco. Refreshing swimming pool, warm weather and very clean rooms. The road to the hotel is extremely steep, our car almost didn't make it. (I believe you can park at the bottom of the hill.) We road the aerotram down the hill into the town for the day. Beautiful city, friendly people and great shopping.

This is my second time staying at the Casa del Laurel. When I planned my return trip to Taxco, I thought "why bother looking at any other place?"
Front desk reception was very friendly and helpful (the last trip in 2014 one guy was kinda cranky....). Hot water for tea and instant coffee was always available. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, at check in we were given the choice of a King bed or two doubles, and this trip we selected the two doubles. Beds were very comfortable, and linens and pillows were very good. Bathroom was great and there was lots of hot water always. Windows open (I love fresh air) but can close tightly to block almost all street noise, and are secure and safe. Beautiful view from the rooftop.
I love this location. Only a short walk to the centre square or a short downhill to one of the bus stations. As streets can be steep in Taxco, there are plenty of VW taxis circling around and it is very inexpensive to take trips in them if you don't want to do the climbs yourself.
Taxco is quite magical at night. Thanks Casa del Laurel, I hope to visit you again.
