The Castelmar is a well kept hotel just inside the perimeter of the old walled town and also within 100 metres of the malecon & the Gulf of Mexico. It could hardly be better located for exploring Campeche. The hotel is well maintained and our room had super effective air conditioning and was kept spotlessly clean. Our criticisms: poor coffee, juice and fruit at breakfast, and while the staff were helpful more interaction would have been nice but this would involve them looking up from their computers or cell phones - not a problem unique to the Castel market! Niggles aside we liked the hotel and would stay again.

"Great place to stay next to the Uxmal Mayan site. "
Very nice lodge, rooms and amenities adjacent to the Uxmal site. Two very nice, secluded pools for cooling off and relaxing. Restaurant has a somewhat limited menu but the quality and taste of the food was very good. The staff was excellent! They connected us with a guide and everyone was very friendly. Great place overall. I'd highly recommend a trip to Kabah for more ruins touring. Only a twenty minute drive from the lodge.

Very helpful staff, clean and comfortable room, good free breakfast, close to beach and a few restaurants, nice view of city or Gulf from upper floors, 24-hour business center with computers/internet/printer. Expedia booking worked without a hitch.

The ONE is one great value. The staff was friendly and attentive, the bed was soft, the room was clean, and the a/c worked quietly. The neighborhood is nice with good restaurants and an Oxxo store nearby.

This seems to be a one-room B&B, in a pueblo that has a gate that closes at night. It is almost entirely a non-touristy neighborhood. But the folks who run it were great. We did have trouble finding the place at night, which maybe they can fix. When we got there, a gentleman came out from one of the houses in the neighborhood and warmly welcomed us and showed us our room.
The room was clean and nice and well-presented. There was wine in the room if we chose to purchase it. In the morning a woman came to our house and made us breakfast, which was excellent.
It was a simple experience but very genuine and charming. I recommend it when in the area going to Calakmul...

The location was superior to the hotels in town, which were all close to the highway. The grounds were fun and well kept. There was no air conditioning, which we also did not expect. It was a very nice experience all around.
