I picked this hotel for a family reunion and I knew I would be eating a lot so I wanted to make sure to work out but I only had 1 day to work out because they closed the gym the remaining 3 days of my stay. I was very upset because no workers were there so I wanted to use the treadmill and they said I couldn't. I had to go outside in the heat to walk instead of the gym which made me very unhappy.

The room layout was awkward. The closet or nook was on the back of the room with the window. It did not have a closet door, It was a curtain. The room was really tight with 3 people.

The rooms are not spacious enough for movement if your party is larger than 2. I had 3 with me and we were bumping into each other. Other than that the price is reasonable and it’s about 17 minutes from the Columbia Mall that has Dave’s & Buster, etc.

The property was the perfect distance between the airport and USC. The shuttle was not running to or from the airport but Hampton called us taxis both times for us and covered it. Taxis arrived on time. Staff was friendly. Breakfast has lots of options for a small hot continental breakfast. The room was great for what we needed it for.

Not what I paid for

The 1st of the 2 major issues was the fact that, due to construction, patrons were unable to walk inside the hotel to go between their rooms and the front of the hotel (i.e., ride share drop-offs, the lobby, the breakfast area, etc.). I literally had to leave the lobby through the front door then go around to the back of the building just to access the elevator. (My room was on the 4th floor!) For those prices, I wanted an 'indoor' hotel experience. The 2nd of the 2 major issues was the fact that 1 of the elevators went out half-way through my stay. (*sigh*) Other issues were that 1/2 of the cable channels were inaccessible and housekeeping didn't service the room the entire time I was there. With all of those inconveniences, it would have been appropriate for the management to apologize and issue some sort of discount --- which didn't happen.
