This place was an experience — and not the good kind. Check-in was awkward. The front desk clerk had the enthusiasm of a houseplant and seemed more interested in badmouthing local restaurants than actually helping us. Instead of recommendations, we got unsolicited commentary on which places were “racist” or served frozen food. Not exactly the warm welcome you hope for. The room looked fine at first glance — until we pulled back the sheets. One bed had a dried red mystery stain that looked suspiciously like blood and mucus. The other bed? Covered in long, curly black hairs. The linens were clearly wrinkled and used. It was the kind of thing that makes your skin crawl. We went to the front desk to request fresh bedding, and a man and woman came to “inspect.” They initially refused to even look at the beds until we pointed things out directly. The man insisted the sheets had already been changed — which was bold, considering we were standing there staring at what could only be described as biohazard bedding. They eventually brought clean sheets and changed them. When we asked about the pillows, which we also told them were dirty (they smelled like an old man’s sweaty scalp), they just handed us pillowcases for us to change ourselves. Nothing says hospitality like DIY germ mitigation in a double twin room you just paid $300 to stay in for one night. If you value basic cleanliness and professionalism — stay elsewhere.

The television did not work my entire stay. The property manager wanted to move my room with no discount. Only discount I got out of 900 dollars was 39 dollars back. My tv did not work the entire three day stay. Horrible.

I had a phenomenal experience with my two grandchildren ( 6 and 2 1/2 yrs old). A great place for the family. The pool is well maintained and welcoming. The rooms are clean, staff very friendly and will accommodate you with no hesitation. We will definitely be back! Thank you for the hospitality Atlantic Paradise staff at Chincoategue Island!!

It was a nice place, didn’t really look like the shower or the sink area had been cleaned and if you walked on the floor bare foot even for a second your feet would be pitch black. But other than that, it was a great place to stay.

The manager was so nice and helpful. That man needs a raise; he works his butt off there. The breakfast bar was good. The only thing I didn't like was the downstairs people, always in their car, smoking skunk weed; it was stinking up the whole place. Plus, they were rude. But that is what happens when you travel.

Our first room had ants. Lots of them. Crawling on everything and on us when we woke up. They moved us for the remainder of our stay when asked. The second room was better but still had them. The A/C was cold but we had a river of water from it going from the AC unit to under the bed. We ended up just putting towels over it keep it from going any further. Bedding and bathroom was clean. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ok if you like waffles and coffee. I know this isn't a five star hotel, but you can tell it is old. This is my second time staying here but I do not think there will be a third unless it gets a makeover. We left a day early without refund.

We have stayed here many times because of the location to everything we want to do. Pool is okay. No bells and whistles but nice to float/swim in. The room that we stayed in definitely could use an update but it has everything needed. One issue we had it that the tv has sling but the internet does not stay consistent enough to stream without bugfering or kicking off. With that being said, we do not go on vacation to watch tv so we will go back because we love being able to walk to Island Creamery and Steamers and a few shops to get needed items.
