Probably the loveliest hotel we have stayed at for our anniversary. Lara at reception was wonderful- super excited we got a free upgrade - the staff go out of their way to make your stay happy and comfortable. The Grand is definitely grandiose without being ostentatious or pretentious. Holds all the charm of Brighton and is very special. Thank you.

Welcome break

First rate location and the view was fantastic overlooking the sea. Spacious room, in pastel colours. Dog was more than welcome ! Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast plentiful and I asked for GF bread - which was immediately provided. Maybe something else available too, would have been nice. Allergy board displayed.

I paid £580 for a Junior Suite which I shared with a friend, and I paid £435 for an additional room for another friend. I emailed ahead and asked if I could get an early check-in. Having extensively travelled, I know these are not guaranteed. I checked-in anyway and waited, and watched dozen of other guests checking-in early while I was kept waiting whilst the room was cleaned. I asked why multiple other persons were able to check-in whilst I was being kept waiting. I was just fobbed off and told that check-in wasn’t until 1600hrs on at least two occasions. Yet still dozens of others were facilitated. My bag had been placed in the room so I know it was unoccupied. Not the service you expect when you have just paid £580 for one night. Not impressed. The shower was faulty too. The water ran out of it like a bath tap. Also the water from the bathroom sink tape tasted like dirt. DO NOT BRUSH YOUR TEETH WITH IT. The hotel also billed my credit card two extra times overnight for the same fee. They also put a service charge automatically onto the price of the drinks at the bar. A pint of beer was £8 something. That’s central London 5 Star prices, not a tired looking 4 Star hotel in Brighton. This is a tired looking hotel possibly living off a reputation it may have had up until the 1950s. Not impressed at all and we definitely will not be returning. Not good service, or good value for money. They also need to replace the carpets around the staircase. It’s worn through

Technical problems with the new computer system made the check in a bit difficult but we were let into the room. Unfortunately without the room key, we couldn’t use the air-con. It was a new room and there was a leak in the bathroom although this didn’t cause us any problems. We always stay at the Grand when in Brighton and will continue to do so. Staff, as always, were excellent and helpful.

No upmarket restaurant for this quality hotel. Bedroom excellent but no bed turn down offer. Some areas very tired and not attention paid to keeping standard. Housekeeping a good standard. I will come again as position very accommodating for my need. Hope can improve.
