The Generator Mitte surpassed our expectations - great food and drink, lovely, helpful staff, comfortable beds and the most perfect location! Music was a little loud for morning coffee in the cafe but otherwise no complaints and we would stay there again.

Easy to find. Right next to the tram stop. Everything was walkable distance though. The pods themselves are large and clean however the mattress is very basic. Would be nice to have a lock system on the actual pod itself. Staff were friendly and happy to help. Showers were hot and mostly clean.

The pod option is nice for a short stay. Quiet, convenient, and well designed. The staff is very friendly and supportive, and never hesitated to answer any questions and give advice. There are many restaurants and shops in the area and it’s a stone throw from the public transport.

From the outside it looks nice and they offered events, but did not allow outside food to be kept on site, did not provide any towels free of charge (5€ to rent one). The storage for your items and luggage was laughable. It was an under the bunk chest that was broken and extremely loud any time you wanted to get anything out. It was barely large enough to fit one large duffel bag. No hair dryer was provided. When they had an event, if you were staying there you couldn’t use the regular entrance, you would have to use another one which popped you out right behind the regular entrance so it seemed ridiculous. I will not be back.

My friends and I stayed at both the Paris and Berlin location within the same week. Paris location was quite dirty, the sheets were not very well cleaned and the whole room was caked in dust, both the bunks at the Paris and Berlin location had gum stuck to it and the walls. All the shower heads were broken in the women’s bathrooms and the temperature was barely even lukewarm, we also noticed mold in the showers. There was chairs and a bench in the room all were broken and could not be used. The berlin location was a bit cleaner than Paris and the bathrooms provided what needed be, although didn’t have hooks to hang towels on. For the amount of money you have to pay for amenities at both locations, it seems as if all the money goes into keeping the bar open and not the uncleanliness of the place. The cleaners only came to change bedsheets did not even clean the floor or wipe down any surfaces. The previous person that had just checked out of our dorm had left some trash in the room. we expected the cleaners to take it, to our surprise we came back and the trash was still there. The whole hotel honestly feels like a summer camp for tweens/ teenagers. In both locations there were constant teenagers running around being rude and screaming during night hours. Staying at a hostel you expect there to be adults. If you are not fond of tweens/ teenagers I do not recommend this place. The staff at the Berlin location were not friendly not welcoming.

I loved this place! Met new friends, beautiful hostel. One thing - the bathroom showers smell soooo bad. I mean bad enough we had to keep the doors closed. Never ever would shower here. Other than that, love this place!

Wrong Generator

I was trying to book the Generator Alexanderplatz but for some strange reason I was allocated a room in the Generator Mitte. Unfortunately I went to the Generator Alexanderplatz where I wanted to stay for my early FlixBus journey. Then I struggled to find the Generator Mitte because my phone battery was flat . Eventually I got to bed at 2am and only slept to 5:30 because I had to be sure that I could catch my FlixBus in time.

Decent hostel but not great design for bunk beds

Everything was fine expect the fact the ladder for the upper bed in the bunk was kept too high for Any one to climb. Especially getting down is a challenge as the guests have to jump down due to the height
