"Best place to stay in Florence!!!!"
Since the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. The rooms are modern, clean, private, and has everything you need. We enjoyed the special treatment from the staff and including the owner, Tomaso, who goes out of his way to please his guest. He was the best attentive host we had in our entire trip in Europe. We highly recommend staying here because it's the best value for the price. It's in a quite lovely location yet very close to the center of Florence by car. Oh and breakfast was amazing with much variety and eggs cooked your way. We will be back soon!

"Cheap and Cheerful"
Situated about a 10 min drive from Florence, also on a bus route, the hotel is probably not in the best location, but if you want a bed for the night with breakfast you cant go wrong here. Clean hotel, big rooms, free breakfast (although dont leave it to the end as they stopped adding food to the buffet well before the finish).

Villa Medicea di Lilliano

"Wonderful stay in a suite at Villa Medicea"
we stayed in a suite for 4 nights. The suite has its own private bath. The tub was very nice but the shower which is integral with the tub installation uses a wrap around curtain which hugs you so snugly that Every move you make, you are making contact with the curtain. Thus, our preferred form of bathing was to take bath. The tub fits two people. 😀 The suite is in a building with 4 other suites and they all share a common kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is large and very modern. The living area had a flat screen TV with built in Netflix so we could see our fav shows in the down time. There is a small courtyard with a sitting area with a gig tree and there is a small in ground pool as well. Both were delightful. A word of caution though, there are mosquitos that are active in the day time and they will feast on you if lounging by the pool without repellent. The winery is quite large and the grapes were being harvested during our stay. The winery also has groves of olive trees. My GF tasted one of the olives that looked ripe which was hanging on one of the trees. She said it made her mouth burn so you might want to skip the fresh if the tree olive tasting. The grapes on the vines however were delicious. The manager, Eric, gave us a tour of the winery including the pressing, fermenting and barrel storing areas plus a wine and olive oil tasting. This should not be missed. Eric is a hoot and his story of how he wound up at the winery is a wonderful story.

"Gorgeous hotel, superb value."
My daughter and I chose this location for a visit to Florence, as we only had a few days in Tuscany and wanted a taste of the countryside as well as the city. If you're on foot, access to the town (Grassina) is a 35-45 minute bus ride from Florence, then a 1 1/2 km walk uphill from the town square -- easy if you're a good walker, but challenging with luggage! If you're not a good walker and are not renting a car, you might want to take a cab from Florence, which might cost from 30-50 euros, depending on airport vs train station, traffic, and the honesty of the driver! That said, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It was breathtakingly beautiful, and the manager was very kind and as helpful as he could be with his limited English. The buildings and gardens were immaculate and completely authentic, there were tables and chairs everywhere for outdoor meals or relaxing with a glass of wine, and wonderful views in every direction. If you like luxury travel, the setting, buildings and gardens would live up to your expectations, though you might find the kitchen and furnishings a little simple for your taste. It was perfect for ours. Breakfast fixings were only Melba toast, jam and Nutella, but they also provided coffee, tea, and olive oil, and it's easy to get more supplies in Grassina or Florence. I would love to come back for at least a week, rent a car, and use this place as a home base for day trips to Pisa, Siena, etc.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
