Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
It is a fantastic place in a great location. Upon entry, we were impressed; obviously we had made a great choice. The house was clean & freshly prepared.
We were there to ride the Flying Scotsman, so parking was not an issue & it was a 2-minute walk from the station (up a cobble path).
The village has more than we realized. The Co-op closes at 4PM. Sleights is about 5-8 minutes down the road with a store open late. There's a couple of pubs, the one we visited had a lovely atmosphere.
Across the river is the Old School Coffee Shop and train yard to explore.
Parking: There is space in front of the house. It's a private, narrow road. Part way down, we turned around and backed in. We parked as close to the wall as we could.
Entry: a great place to hang coats to warm them with storage for gloves and hats.
Kitchen: The kitchen is cozy. Not too tight, but well designed for the space & well stocked.
Lounge/Dining: The heart of the house. It's very spacious with a great view of nature across the river. You can sit and eat to the sounds of the river below. The extension does a decent job of cutting down noise. The bridge for the train is on the other side of the last property, and the footbridge is behind that, so plenty of privacy.
Snug: Fantastic! Who doesn't like a small, tucked away space?
Bedrooms: Two bedrooms, both with a bed that sleeps two. Quite comfortable & we slept well.
Bathroom: Spacious.
It's about 15 minutes to Whitby & a great location to explore the moors.
