"Convenient for ski trips"
2min walk from Echigo-Yuzawa station. Free shuttle buses to the ski slopes (purple line). Has an in-house ski rental shop too. There are 2 lovely onsens within the hotel (separate male/female). We took the larger Western Room with Mountain view as recommended by other travellers, and it did not disappoint. The living room was huge, and the adjoining bedroom offered a gorgeous view of the mountain range (tip: request for a higher floor if possible). Only gripe was the pillows were a bit hard. Buffet breakfast was great, with a wide selection of food including pancakes. Will definitely stay here again for future ski trips!

"Hotel in Snow Village"
Hotel was tucked away in a tiny little street in Nozawa Village. Parking was very limited at the hotel and we in fact got parked in the following morning when we were due to leave. Hotel staff were lovely and their English was good. Room was clean and spacious, had kitchenette so was able to cook breakfast in the room which is handy and breakfast was included in our stay so again, very helpful. The village is small and very hilly, so be prepared to do some walking up and down hills. Not very close to anything if not snow season.

"A great visit and experience with my son."
My son (7) and I decided to head to GALA for his birthday weekend and I wanted him to have a Japanese ryokan experience. Simply put, he LOVED the place. In fact, he wanted to move to Japan after staying here. Overall, it was an excellent place to stay and the staff were absolutely wonderful. One night, with no taxi and tempreatures near freezing, one of the mangers offered to drop us off to a near by ramen place even though they had suspended rides for the day. Now that's service! The room has a small bath/shower but my son and I never used it. We took advantage of the free 'onsen' every night before bed. We even got in a bit of pingpong and ice cream (for him), beer (for me) as a night cap.

"Extremely helpful owners - ideal for Monkey Park"
We booked this Ryokan whilst in Japan. It's is highly recommended to get to the Monkey Park very early as the most enthralling part was to see the monkeys coming down the slopes to be fed. It was like something out of Planet of the Apes as they ran in their dozens down the steep slopes to the bathing area. The owner drove us there so we were the first to the park and only those from our Ryokan and maybe two others saw these magical scenes. Most arrived 15-30 minutes later and whilst there were still many monkeys there, we felt sorry for them. And don't even think of starting in Nagano which has little to offer except an hour plus journey before you even get to Yudanaka / Yamanouvhi. Since the whole point of most travellers' visit here is to see the monkeys, the exact quality of the Ryokan was irrelevant, but it was fine, with a western breakfast at 7.00am to ensure an early start (though with a later option if wanted). He also collected us two hours later - wee just phoned him and he drove back to the park to get us - no extra charge for this invaluable service (or else a 90 minute walk if you could even find your way). The owners will also collect you from the station, though we walked the 300m up the hill. He drove us back. Recommended to ask for a room with private bathroom unless on a tight budget. No lift in the Ryokan, but who cares. By the way, whilst it may be muddy or snowy at some times of the year, for us it was a pleasant stroll. Trainers were fine.

Tsunan is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Tsunan, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Tsunan hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
