Carpark is small but we got there early and parked. I checked if it was ok as we could t book in until 3 but were told yes, 1st come 1st served. Receptionist friendly and helpful. Room seemed ok on first looks but when we returned that evening it was so hot that we had to sleep with the window wide open and then it was really noisy due to a coach/ bus stop right opposite our room. Also the water pipes made a lot of noise during the night, the beds were far too soft and we barely slept. In the morning the shower was a lovely temperature but the ratchet on the head was broken and it wouldn’t stay up properly, just washing the back half of the shower and the toilet seat moved every time it was used - was nearly off at one point.

The room was a good size, comfortable and we were pleased that a dog bed was provided along with dog treats.The shower was easy to manage.There were several vegetarian food options and breakfasts were flexible and included in the overall price of our deal.

Lovely town

Three night stay away without the car for a change. Train station just 10 minutes away and taxi rank outside the hotel, well located. Staff all friendly and food is good. A little tatty in places and missed no plugs beside the bed, no hairdryer but not a massive thing. Totnes is definitely the place to go if you have a dog as everywhere caters for them.

Just back from a four night stay. The hotel is in a great location. It’s old so some creaking floors and sloping walls but welcoming, clean and comfortable. Both staff and food are great.

Stayed many times,this time was no exception, excellent stay overall with good room, staff were very good, food good. The building is showing its age and hopefully an overall is not far off. Barny who runs it is a very good manager who made our stay all the better. We will be ba ck once more. Highly recommended.

Food options very limited and given the poor choice of evening dining places, I would have thought the Hotel would make more effort to attract diners from outside, as well as Residents. Despite a "New Menu" board displayed outside, we went in at just before 9 and was told the kitchen was now closed !!!

Repeat enjoyable visit

Certain fixtures with in room need a bit of TLC. Hotel staff are allways attentive and excellent. We allways enjoy our stay at this hotel. A good central location for visiting all local attractions.

The staff is excellent. The room is very clean. But: There is not enough parking. The food is too spicy and there is not enough available. The price of the breakfast is too high. Noisy area. The Crowne Plaza is cheaper with more facilities.

Great stay

The property is an historic building and reflects that. The room was clean, the bed super comfy and a well fitted bathroom. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The full english breakfast was exceptional using great quality produce and very good coffee. Great location for a short stay. Would certainly recommend.
