The public baths were clean, and my room was pretty spacious for a solo traveler. I loved the traditional tatami mats and windows for that breath of fresh air. However..
The staff was generally nice, but I noticed they were being quite unprofessional and rude during my check-in process. Some of them went as far as laughing at my documents, assuming I couldn't understand what they were saying. A senior staff member told them to quiet down, but this entire performance didn't go unnoticed.
This put me in a bad mood, and I thoroughly didn't enjoy checking in, and felt wary for most of the time I was there. Whether this was for jokes or not, it was STILL unprofessional and unpleasant to have been laughed at, considering this hotel establishment was nice overall, and the amenities were enjoyable.
Besides those few employees, I enjoyed my stay here. For future reference, treat everyone with respect, foreigner or not. Most of the time, we can understand despite the language barrier. A common courtesy I would like to see more of in the future, coming from someone who also works in hospitality.
