Property seems a little tired. Breakfast was limited to a continental breakfast.
Beautiful room with antique furniture & comfy bed. Had a door leading on to a patio area, which was excellent for taking our dogs out without having to go through the hotel.
Lovely continental breakfast with plenty of choice.
We stayed here for a few nights to explore the Argyll area and it was the greatest decision. The guest house is lovely, the rooms are clean and beds very comfortable, parking on site is handy, the local post office and deli are only walking distance which was great. Honestly tho, the whole hotel experience is made by Christine the manager. Firstly, her porridge is to die for! So creamy - we had it 3 mornings in a row. Secondly, she just could not do enough for us to make our stay more comfortable, it made us feel like we were very welcome. But the absolute best thing about Christine was that she was so kind to us and has exceptional knowledge about the local area, we did almost everything that she suggested and it was all fabulous. Do yourself a favour and stay here because the guesthouse is great accommodation and if you’re lucky you’ll meet Christine who will become one of the highlights of your trip. We’ll definitely stay here again.
Room sizes vary a lot. Rooms at the front suffer from traffic noise, though the road was not particularly busy at night.
Continental breakfast only but well stocked.
We loved the location and building. We would have enjoyed an updated shower as my husband and I were both concerned about falling when stepping up into the tub.

We arrived at 6:30 pm and there is no staff on site. It’s a bit early compared to most.
Historical guest house, fine for our overnight in the area. Friendly Manager Christine Roberts is a dynamo, sending personal greetings before arrival, meeting us at check-in and showing us our room, and overseeing everyone's breakfast in the morning. Thanks, Christine!

convenient hotel for a nights stay
little bit outdated.
close to a main road - so was a bit noisy with traffic on the road
no restaurant at site
Lovely little hotel very close to Taynuilt village.
Clean and tidy.
Room was a bit dated.
Very small bathroom with only a shower no bath.
Breakfast was ample
Continental self serve.
Was offers meats and cheese and fresh toast, fruit bread.
Will definitely stay again..
Taynuilt train station 3 mins away :)
Christine was lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was a nice change from typical English breakfast. Nice continental. Even offered smoke salmon and deli meats. Only issue was our room was very close to road and because of hot spell needed window open. A little noisy.
We enjoyed our stay here. The room was a good size, clean and quiet with a private courtyard area. The complimentary continental break fast was quite good. Not a huge amount to do in the immediate Taynuilt area but a great base to explore Oban from.
Good value, basic guest house in a convenient spot
The old hotel now run as a guest house in the nice village of Taynuilt. It's in need of modernisation but clean and convenient for the main road to Oban and the railway station. Friendly, helpful staff.

we booked a two night stay in this "Hotel" back in February. The main reason that we chose this hotel was because of the gastro pub advertised within the hotel. On the day we were due to set out on our road trip around western Scotland, we received an email from the Taynuilt telling us that they were looking forward to our arrival. How lovely. I wrote back to say that we were looking forward to our stay and very much looking forward to tasting their menu. Imagine our disappointment when they then informed us that they no longer served food or had a bar as they had now become a guest house!! with no time to cancel and find alternative accommodation we ended up staying anyway. the lady who looked after us while we were there was lovely, but it wasn't what we had booked and paid for! we ended up having crisps for dinner on the first night as we were to exhausted to drive around looking for a restaurant after our long journey. when you book a gastro hotel that's what you expect to get. I don't know if the Taynuilt or Expedia are at fault but we were certainly miss sold.
This is a country hotel (was a coaching inn) with comfortable rooms. Although the road outside could be busy at times, we were not disturbed by it - sound insulation was good. The bed and mattress were comfortable. Bathroom was a bit squishy with a door that jammed and limited rails for towels. Reception is not always open but we had a key to let ourselves in after one late evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Dinner was an unbelievable experience. David, the sommelier, was very professional, pleasant, and helpful. The meal was exquisite- the best meal of our entire 16 day trip.
The room was clean but very small, the bed was comfortable.
Average - nothing to rave about compared to elsewh
Travelled a distance only to find the restaurant there booked out. The service was not as welcoming as elsewhere in Scotland. Nice enough but did not compare well to other places in Cotswolds or London for service.
