Lovely hotel with beautiful rooms. Very interesting history. Handy for town , 5 mins walk, hundreds of different restaurants Lovely to have decent tea and coffee facilities in our room, with delicious biscuits. A really pleasant little hotel, very handy for the Station – just opposite. Staff are extremely friendly

English breakfast is excellent. Staff is very friendly. The shower screen is only half way so water sprays outside to the wall and floor. The firedoor upstairs at the top of the stairs is kept open and the firedoor along the corridor doesn't close properly. These need attention for fire regulations.

Clean, friendly & comfortable.

Very welcoming from young lady at reception, room clean & comfortable with good shower, although could do with rubber safety mat as quite slippery. Good breakfast with quick service from same young lady, seems she was running the place single handed, a good jib shr was doing too. Would certainly stay again.

Tay at you peril

Where do you start. Greeted well. Downhill from there. £10 for a cheese sandwich. (,pic). Room needed some maintenance. Windows wouldn't stay open. Toilet seat loose. Dressing table wedged between two walls with a radiator in front of it so yo can't open the draws. Gotta see it to believe it. Toated panini was nearly raw. Milk for tea in room with only herbal teas supplied. Could go on. Stay atyour peril. Staff member streaming with a severe cold handling food. Probably the worst hotel i have stayed in for a long year.

I will stay again

I have stayed here three times don’t forget to put your car registration in the car park. The back of the hotel is a lot quieter than the front Wi-Fi is good. Breakfast is nice and starts at 7 am.The only thing that needs to be sorted out are the windows I have to wedge them open with something. I will be staying again.

Overall the hotel is very comfortable. The breakfast was very good with various options as the hotel is next to the railway station. If you have a front facing room it can be somewhat noisy. A little bit strange that you were given a small bottle of milk for your room, I would rather see pre-packed small cartons or sleeves. The shower in my room was slightly damaged again. The hotel is a little bit quirky that the door is locked from 830 where you have to ring to get back in the main question is is it worth the money you could get a Premier Inn for the same price, but not as quirky as this hotel

Lovely hotel full of character just over the road from the station. Big rooms have high ceilings . The bedroom was large and had a comfortable bed and a lovely big shower Breakfast was really tasty , Staff were very helpful I'm looking forward to my next visit .

The hotel was in a good location next to the station and just outside of town. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly and helpful. We were put in the wrong room initially which was an administrative oversight by either Expedia or the hotel. The only pain was the hotel was locked at 8 pm and you have to use the ring doorbell, we were outside for some time and I had to ring the hotel to get someone to open the door. They could give a front door key on your fob
