Disappointed in Old Greenwich!

I kept hoping things would get better… Difficulty getting the site confirmation number to set up their app (it’s different from the Hotels.com itinerary number). Took 2 hours on the phone with Hyatt to get this and was scolded for using a 3rd party to book. The app wouldn’t open our door but luckily an employee was walking by and checked it but it wasn’t working. He opened the door for us and told us to call for a physical key card (which we did). They never brought the cards, but 20 minutes later we heard our door clicking so they fixed it but never called to tell us. The body wash bottle in the shower was completely empty. Luckily, discovered this before using the shower since I needed hand soap and there was only 1 tiny bar to share. It took 20 minutes to get the body wash sent up. (What if I had been in the shower?!). The shower head wasn’t very clean. The wood trim around the bathroom door was chewed up on the bottom (dog?) and hastily painted over. The room had 2 queen beds and both were lumpy and uncomfortable. The bed pillows were smaller than standard size and they were lumpy also. So uncomfortable (I should have brought my own pillow). Luckily we only had to stay 1 night (in town for a bridal shower) and picked this place because my family said it was just renovated - maybe the atrium (that was very nice) but not our room! We recently stayed at a Hilton property in Charleston and it was a million times nicer than this place, so no more Hyatt for us.

I enjoyed my quick staycation at this property. It is very close to Stamford which has endless amenities. The property looks like a resort, I was very pleased to stay here. I would definitely revisit.

The pictures online really don't do this place justice. The atrium had almost a Caribbean vibe with lush plants and bright sunlight. There is ample seating so you can always find a spot that feels quiet to sip a cappuccino from the cafe or a glass of wine from the bar. The receptionists could look and act less miserable but the rest of the hotel staff is welcoming and attentive. The room facing the atrium is well worth it. Just don't get dressed with only the sheer curtains closed at night because the people in the room right across can see you. Rooms are spacious, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. Kids had a great time at the pool. Wanted to try the cinema but couldn't convince the group to watch the movie they were playing. Would love to stay there agian and would definitely recommend.

The “Castle”, apparently a large conversion from an office complex to a hotel. The indoor atrium is remarkable but never ending renovations seem to be a thing. It appears this is a “union” staff, so the range in quality of employees is quite wide. There are a few shining stars but for the most part, service is an issue and it’s more like a Stamford hotel than a Greenwich hotel. I struggle a bit with ratings but likely this is a 3 star facility that pales in comparison to other Greenwich hotels in terms of service, food, access and management. Many out of town guests, likely just a bit price sensitive. Likely good for a wedding, as the atrium provides an indoor setting where you won’t need to worry about inclement weather and/or tents. The quality of food is an issue. Aside from the morning coffee shop, I intentionally chose to go out instead of eating dinner there more than once. Clearly room for improvement but overall a viable facility for families, business travels - especially larger convention type groups - or others looking for a detour from downtown Stamford.
