Quirky property with an old English theme. A bit of a haunted house vibe. Checking in was an annoyance as we arrived at 11:45pm and the lone staff that could check us in had a car mishap on her way to work and we had to sit and wait in the lobby for more than an hour and only was able to get into the room at 1am. The staff did apologize and I understood it was out of her control but it was still annoying. The rooms were fairly clean. The staff was polite but not overly friendly.

Weekend to St Louis

The bathroom sink drain was 90% clogged. I don't think anyone has dusted/cleaned the shelf under the sink for months. The view from our room was of a flat roof with mechanicals on it and very dirty. There was a door in our room with access to roof. A small fridge would have been very convenient. Room and hotel itself was clean and pool was very nice.

A Treasure in Need of Leadership, one who cares!

This hotel has been a go to favorite of ours for years. Our last stay was bad. There was some improvement. Too many issues to list. The Staff is friendly and greets you, but there are big problems beyond. Someone with Hotel & Restaurant Management Training & Experience needs to rework the whole place over. It is a treasure that needs leadership bad. Glad to talk with an owner or GM, if they cared!

Overall a good trip! Really cute castle-like hotel but we found clothing in our room so it makes me doubt the room was actually cleaned!

The room had obviously not been used recently. There was a layer of dust over various surfaces. The refrigerator was dirty.

What I view as a fairly material misstep, the hotel staff reissued our room to a second guest after we were already in it. You can imagine my surprise getting out of the shower to having to rush to keep the door from opening. The staff response to their own mistake was equally poor leadership.

We've been traveling for several days, and this hotel had the best atmosphere, the breakfast had the best selection of pastries, comfortable beds, fantastic staff (one even offered to drive us to a location where we could have "authentic" St. Louis barbeque, and the shampoo/conditioner/lotion/bath gel were so good I'm going to purchase some for home. We also loved how close it was to the zoo~ we walked there two days.

My husband, five kiddos, and I had a wonderful stay at The Cheshire. The room was clean, and I really enjoyed the look of the windows. Our youngest is special needs and had a complete meltdown when she found out there was no Netflix available. I also feel the breakfast area needs expanded to accommodate guests. We were in town for the Step Up For Down Syndrome walk. So, I was pleased to find The Cheshire not far from the area. St. Louis traffic is horrid but the quick trip to the walk kept our blood pressure down. I absolutely loved the ambiance at The Cheshire, from the welcoming lobby equipped with games to enjoy to each room named for an author. My published author of a husband (and English teacher) absolutely loved walking around taking pictures of the featured writers. The staff was amazing and very welcoming. With as many children as we have, we sometimes are looked at discouragingly by staff. But this was not the case at The Cheshire. I would highly recommend this stay, especially for anyone looking for a family-friendly place to stay.

This was a family trip to St. Louis. We enjoyed our stay at The Cheshire. Our only problem was the breakfast area being extremely small and crowded and the pool only being 4 feet deep. Definitely not a dealbreaker though. Would definitely recommend

The vibe here is super unique. Much cooler than a chain hotel. Breakfast with FRESH berries?! Unheard of. Had a quick drink/fish and chips at Fox and Hound- reasonably priced and good portion. Chris is so personable! Shower curtians are due for a change (they were pretty smelly when I took a hot shower) and the curtain behind the bed- how is that kept clean? Overall, though, recommend for a one of a kind experience.
