Hotel Casa Roland Golfito Resort - Golfito Hotels

Hotel Casa Roland Golfito Resort

American Zone, Golfito - Map
The hotel is well run and comfortable. The reception staff could be a little more concerned with the guests than with their own private preoccupations. Breakfast is ample and tasty, though real bread would be nice. The only real drawback is the pool; it is open to the public, obviously to pay its way, and so the only time for a relaxed swim is early in the morning; later one is likely to be splashed by adolescents who wish to show off their bombing techniques to one another. The pool can also be noisy late at night, although it is not supposed to be used after 10 p.m. There seemed to be no attempt to enforce this rule. Do not stay here on 25th December unless you have devised an escape plan (difficult, as everywhere else is closed). The pool then becomes the site of a very loud sound system and its attendant 'DJs' with their inane and quite unnecessary additions to the 'music', and is invaded, so it seems, by the entire population of the town (except those who have a home to go to, or an escape plan).

"Fantastic experience of the forest."
The lodge is beautifully designed, open plan, wooden construction, cottages set in the forest open to the sights and sounds. The food is lovely. There are a range of public spaces and well made trails into primary forest giving several kilometres of walking. We saw frogs, leaf cutter ants, turtles, monkeys, butterflies, toucans, hummingbirds and much more. The staff are knowledgable. The lodge is owned and run by a family committed to protecting and restoring the forest and run the Lodge in a low impact way. Also, we are vegetarian and a special effort was made to prepare tasty food for us.

"A pleasant surprise in an ecological preserve"
We were pleasantly surprised to find that our "room" was actually half of a duplex lodge on a delightful site in the middle of a beautiful ecological area. Our only issue was trying to find the lodge after dark. Costa Rica does not do a good job with street signs, so good, detailed directions are essential, especially after dark.

"Great jungle place on the beach"
Well I have to say that after initial surprise of being in a jungle beach hotel, this place could not have been more terrific! The staff is great, you really feel like you are hanging with friends. Amazing location where you can hear and see different birds and monkeys. (Even a sloth). The pool is perfect with a nice hot tub attached. There is a yoga studio, risen in the air with a spa attached. Traci is the massage therapist who is extremely talented and her style is not to be missed. Make appt asap since she books quickly. Also dinner is 5 star quality and hosted by Toby who is the owner. The guys at the bar are really cool and treat you like friends not guests. ๐ŸนDrinks are good as well ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Just note: there is no AC and you are in a jungle so bring bug spray. The roads are gravel and not in great shape, other than that, Toby; I thank you and staff for letting us be part of this experience. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Also: you MUST take the Chocalate tour. It's not what you think and a 100 times better.

Good stay when it's not as busy. Rooms are a bit dated and need some work. Paint was peeling off our walls in several places and there were ink stains on our blanket.

South Pacific Coast is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in South Pacific Coast, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your South Pacific Coast hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
