"Rustic and secluded with fantastic staff"
Secure and secluded yet a 5 minute walk from beaches, pubs, restaurants, and stores and 10 minutes from the entrance to the National Park. The Cabinas nor Cahuita itself are for those expecting to relax at the cabins or laze about on the beach with any kind of services. There are lots of local tours and beaches and towns to visit all in the Pura Vida style... that is, very low key and basic. My only two complaints would be that better, safer looking hot water be supplied and something be done about the camp dogs... very friendly and their security is appreciated but their barking can wake you throughout the night.

"Amazing staff, great food, awesome location"
I took my daughter on a 10th birthday trip to Costa Rica and chose Puerto Viejo because of it's proximity to the Sloth Sanctuary (her dream was to see sloths in their own habitat). We chose the Lizard King Resort because of its in-town location, the breakfast reviews (which are all true--excellent meals and choices), and the name (like the owner, I'm a long time fan of The Doors). The resort is gorgeous -- mostly wood construction, open, airy, and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are immaculate (staff is seen cleaning throughout the day), and the pool is a wonderful added benefit (with a lovely bar poolside). The best part about The Lizard King, though, is the staff. These people are incredible! Friendly, welcoming and amazingly helpful. They arranged all of our excursions, told us prices up front, confirmed multiple times when and where our events were happening, and made all the difference to our experience. I can't wait to return.

"First visit to Costa Rico"
The town of Limon was not very clean and had little to offer. I made the best of it and managed to enjoy myself. I took in the attractions and drove around a lot. The staff at the hotel were great. The location was the best in the city. Although I was less than a block from some tough sections. The town ended one block after my hotel and the ocean was with in view.

"Beautiful Retreat that allows you to be in nature."
We needed a getaway that was near the sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica. This was the perfect place for us. If you want a resort, this is not for you. But if you want a magical retreat where you can be part of nature and be surrounded by friendly staff who will guide you to local adventures, then this is your place. We had our own bungalow with a porch looking out over the valley to the ocean. You could see parrots and toucans from our porch, and although we are not vegetarians, the chef made excellent vegetarian cuisines that everyone would love. I even talked my husband into yoga and it was so perfect when it rained and the animals chirped during yoga. I would recommend this place to all nature lovers.

Caribbean Coast is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Caribbean Coast, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Caribbean Coast hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
