"Overnight stopover"
Booked 2 rooms for £78 which was very cheap! Rooms had ensuite bathrooms, coffee making facilities and hairdryer. Both rooms were clean and compact. Felt it was good value for money. Lots of family friendly restaurants near by.

"Great budget hotel"
The hotel was clean and had everything you need for a easy and convenient stay including free parking and free wifi. It was modern and pleasant inside and the staff were friendly. The situation is good for onward travel with easy access to major roads. The surroundings aren't particularly picturesque, but for a short stay this suited us well.

"Easily accessible from the autoroute."
Exceptionally pleasant manager. I've forgotten his name ( plays a tuber in marching band?). Nothing was too much trouble for him. He was very caring towards my wife who is disabled. As there are no lifts in the hotel he accommodated us so that it was very little effort for my wife to enjoy easy access and the comforts of the hotel. We had a nice chat with him over breakfast before moving on to the ferry port. He helped us out with our bags and we are grateful to him for the nice experience he provided. I hope the owners of "Balladins' pay him a decent wage in recognition of his attributes and obvious "bon homie'. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Briggs.

"Great hotel in central Saint Quentin "
Only stayed one night as a stop off on our return from the Alps, but this proved to be an excellent place to stay - a great room, parking, very quiet, helpful hosts, super breakfast, close to restaurants.

"Great hotel for a stopover"
The hotel was very central in St Quentin, a lovely french town with shops and restaurants. There was plenty of parking in private hotel car park right next to the hotel. The family room was large and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, loads of choice and plenty to eat. Highly recommend this hotel to families stopping over en-route to holidays, very good value and quality. Easy to find if you have satnav!

"Nice quiet working farm in Picardie!"
This is a lovely, quiet and affordable place to stay. The room is nicely appointed and the bathroom was nicely updated with a shower (bring your own soap and shampoo). The bed was comfy and the bedding was nice. There was a lovely large rolled pillow, but the two other bed pillows were a little flat. The host Danielle and her husband Hubert were lovely, helpful and accommodating; they are also both fairly fluent in English. They have a barn with several horses, chickens, geese, Anna the Picardie herding dog (I love Lillie) at the property. They offer canoes/kayaks for rent and they also have a schedule for horse riding events (see their website). They have maps of the area and you can take a walk in nature among the wheat fields down to the creek/river). The hosts showed us around and to our room. There is a separate entrance to the guest rooms. They went to the boulangerie in another town to get us fresh baguette traditional and croissants for the morning breakfast. They served us hot coffee, tea, orange juice, bottled water and jams in addition to the croissant/baguette. They even asked if we wanted our milk warmed for our coffee/tea. If you want a true BnB experience and love the country, this is for you. If you prefer a busier feel of a larger town, then this is not for you. It was an excellent value and I'm glad we stayed a quiet night in the country. All the best.

"Remodeled downtown hotel."
The hotel is downtown and is being remodeled. The room looked like new. However, it was outfitted rather cheaply, but everything worked. For an American staying in Paris, this hotel is inexpensive but lacks air conditioning (as many hotels do in Europe) and is located along a rather busy street. Being about 86 degrees (30 degrees Centigrade) and with high humidity, it wasn't very comfortable to sleep, especially with the noise made by cars, people on the street, garbage truck, etc. If you're looking for a good price, this is it.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
