Nice hotel and location. Rooms need improving, not all rooms had a bedside lights or sofa, vanity stuff etc. The best thing about the hotel was the rustic lobby entrance. It was stunning, shame the theme didn’t follow through in the rooms

Excellent hotel. An oasis in the middle of San Jose. Valet parking, clean room and bathroom, comfortable beds, food was excellent, great location to explore San Jose museums and national theater was perfect. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable in the history of the hotel. Highly recommended!

We stayed here one night just before leaving Costa Rica. The hotel is beautiful and has charm—from the hanging plants to the typewriters, calculators, and telephones in the lobby…it’s just a quaint hotel. We loved the lobby area as it had a variety of seating areas and they offer coffee, tea, water (hot and cold), and milk throughout the afternoon and evening. Our room was quiet and clean and comfortable…everything we needed for a great night’s sleep. We would definitely stay here again!

What an absolutely perfect little hidden urban oasis this is. The public spaces throughout the hotel, especially the 4th floor bar and outdoor patio, and the main reception room, are gorgeous. The food at the Azotea is amazing, as are the cocktails. Do not miss the guacamole! Oh, and the breakfast buffet is superb. The room was fairly spartan, but entirely comfortable and enjoyable. Also, the location is GREAT, so close to some great gems and sites in central San Jose. Best of all, the staff here are the absolute best - from Pedro who greets you at the front (and has great tips for things to do in the area), Luis at the reception desk, to EVERYONE working the restaurant and patio. The smiles and warmth and genuine. Hotel Presidente is world class. We hope to come back soon.

Hotel with great lobby, rooftop, and breakfast!

Very nice hotel with cool decor in the lobby and entry area. Beautiful rooftop deck with pretty flowers, etc. Breakfast was excellent and the service was very nice. We arrived somewhat late in the evening and there was someone at the street level who was waiting to let us in. But once we were inside and upstairs at the lobby we waited a VERY long time before someone showed up to the front desk to check us in. Probably 15+ minutes. We were tired and it was just a bummer. We got the basic room and it was just fine...a little tight, but clean and served its purpose. I would stay here again.

Beautiful property-fun vintage touches and well designed spaces. Plants and a surprising rooftop garden complement the overall look. Good customer service-Javier in the lobby was especially helpful. Room had everything we needed and bedding was of good quality. Lovely restaurant with good food although service seemed off - we weren’t checked on and had to ask for menus to order wine and dessert. Great breakfast selections.

Love this hotel!

We had a great experience at Hotel Presidente. The staff was amazing!! Great continental breakfast!!! we also had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was delicious with a great outdoor area. If you’re planning a trip to San Jose Costa Rica, I highly recommend this hotel.
