I booked because location was close to my son’s school. They had just finished new, on site, restaurant with a full bar. The lobby is beautiful and the staff were all very friendly and professional. The room was very clean. Loved the walk in shower, lighted closet, cappuccino machine, full length mirror, and charging areas for electronics. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Robes were provided for use, but were too small for us. The room did not have a microwave, the bathroom did not have a fan, and the room fridge was not very cold, nor did it have a freezer section. Reusable bottles of water were provided, with a refilling station in library. Parking was limited, but there were a few EV charging stations. The continental breakfast had very limited choices, such as rye bread for toast, croissants, fresh fruit, and a bowl of some type of yogurt mixture. Coffee and tea were the beverages offered.

Worth a visit to Poughkeepsie

Lovely new boutique hotel at Vassar College, open to the public. Parking and breakfast budfet included in the price of the room. Beautiful facility, room and landscaping. Tasty restaurant offerings. Barhroom has very ecofriendly supplies and design.

It was quiet, clean, perfect for a much needed rest. The staff was incredible. The only note is to keep the coffee coming at breakfast. It ran out and it took a bit to get someone to refill.

The hotel was beautiful and very clean. We would totally stay here again, however the temperature in the room was very uncomfortable. We understand eco-friendly temp controls, but the AC unit did not turn on at all during our stay. So we were very uncomfortable and did not sleep well. We had maintenance come take a look, we even called down to the front desk and no one knew how to fix it. Would totally stay again if the Units actual worked and not temp controlled.

We were very impressed with our stay at The Heartwood. The lobby, rooms, and "Snug" areas were comfortable and classy, the people at the front desk were very welcoming and helpful, and the location to restaurants and the beautiful Vassar campus was perfect. We will definitely stay here again.

Great staff, great location, lovely rooms. Our only complaint is the complicated espresso machine vs coffee maker in the room coupled with no coffee or breakfast available til 7am. We had to be out the door at 630. Luckily there's a great bagel place within walking distance.
