This was our second time and glad we returned. We enjoy the buffet, particularly their fresh fruit, home made bread, seafood options particularly tuna steaks on BBQ night, and little desserts and ice cream. It is nice there are no resevations required now for the restaurants. Snack bar and drinks by the pool is great. I wish they had chips more than one time to go with the guacamole. Room had comfy beds, good hot water and nice garden view. WiFi was not strong enough at night to watch a movie but good for emails etc. Some noise from room above when they moved furniture. I have to say the leaf blower starting at 7am has got to go. Terrible sound when you are trying to enjoy the morning peace. I mentioned it to the front desk. Friendly staff always. Love the chaise loungers facing the ocean. The whole beach that was a volleyball court has washed away. You can still walk up and down the beach easily, and see great sunrises. I would go back again!

Elisa Bini in guest services made our visit very special again this year. We will be back. The Bamboo restaurant was our favorite and Manuel was our waiter for a number of nights. He did a great job and was very friendly! Well done.

Nice property with beautiful scenery. Wide palm lined beach area - however, erosion near water. We enjoyed 5 nights at this resort. We went to the Maya as well. We liked things at both resorts. The restaurants had decent food but the buffet and pool buffet food was not good. The only time it was decent is when they had the grills set up and were grilling chicken . Overall it was a nice place but food could be better.

It was my girlfriend and I first time in Mexico and we decided to stay at viva Azteca. Needless to say we throughly enjoyed our entire stay and didn’t have any complaints. Will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend the resort to others. Viva Mexico!

The employees are very kind, helpful and always smiling. The food is ok; perhaps a little revamp is needed. The entire resort is so clean. The beach is amazing in January. The weather is perfect. I will definitely come again in January only. I really enjoyed my stay.

Smaller resort than what we're used but we liked it very much. It is located in a closed off area of Playa del Carmen making it less accessible and safer. They offered an all day long Kids Club which was a big plus for both parents and kids who had various fun and entertaining activities. Recommended.

Pros: Small resort. Easy walk from rooms to pool and beach.great for families with young kids. Staff do a good job of cleaning rooms etc. Good specialty restaurant xulha and the italian one. No reservations required for these. Quieter than other resorts by the pool Cons: Dated rooms and facility. Sucks for vegetarians. Unclear signage and cross contamination with things placed right next to each other. No beach bar or service No.pool side service. Entertainment staff lack enthusiasm to.involve people in activities. Resort is in playacar hotel zone. Quick taxi ride to downtown which has a great walkable street with tons of vibrant restaurants, bars, clubs.

Viva Azteca is a very quiet property, which could be good. We had a pool and bar view room, and it was still very quiet. The food at the buffet is horrible, minus the omelets. The restaurants were all blah at best. We had 4 people and tried something different each and only found 1 option that we thought was ok. We tried all 3 restaurants on site. We tried to go to Viva Maya 3 hotels down to try a restaurant, but reservations were required and they were not able to make us reservations for the duration of our stay. We did eat at their buffet instead, which did have better food than Viva Azteca. If food doesn't matter to you at your "all inclusive" then Viva Azteca could be a good option.

The only thing I didn't like was the food. I don't want to be disrespectful but the food was very bad . I Was there 4 nights and didn't enjoy the food at all. The property is nice and very close to shops. Unfortunate the food killed the stay.

Smaller resort which is what I look for when booking a vacation. Very clean, friendly staff and beautiful beach. Gated community so I felt safe and it’s a 15 min walk to 5th Ave. Good food selection and I would stay again.
