The hotel is in a prime location for exploring downtown Pittsburgh with multiple restaurants and bars around and it’s near the waterfront. The speakeasy is really nice and I enjoyed having drinks and dinner at Palm Court. Highly recommend this hotel. I will be staying here everytime I visit.

Wish I’d found a different place

We pulled up the hotel valet and got scolded by the bellman when my kid took one of our smaller bags out and put them on the cart next to the car in the spirit of helping. He had no problem with the family ahead of us who’d done the same thing. Our car isn’t fancy, but I’m a business owner with multiple exits and I think he made some judgments about our color of skin and class based on it? And when I asked for clarification, he was rude and insulting. At the front desk, we waited behind one person for the clerk to get to us for 20 minutes. It was a college football weekend, and they only had one person working the front desk. I was really excited to stay at a historic Pittsburgh hotel, but found the service lacking and not particularly hospitable and wouldn’t recommend. Fine if you need a place to stay, but I’m sure Pittsburgh has better.

My husband and I stayed here the night before our wedding, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. They even sent us up wine and a cheese plate to congratulate us. The rooms here are always clean, always beautiful, and we always love our stay. We had a lovely time.

The windows were in dire need of cleaning. The AC made noises with the vents opening and closing. The staff, Charley, in particular was kind and helpful, and offered very good follow up with issues. The bath and one half in our room was a pleasant surprise. There was a dark corner of the room that would benefit from a floor lamp. And another reading chair would have been welcome. The many elevators made coming and going easy.
