"Great location for Snowdon mini break"
We stayed in the hotel and castle as we couldn't choose which was best during a recent break to explore the Snowdon national park. Both were fantastic- the hotel is slightly more dated than the castle (which was very modern inside) but does have amazing views. The whole of Portmerion is fantastic- it's a kind of living architectural show piece with all of the houses open to guests. We didn't realise this before we arrived (perhaps as we are quite young so have never seen 'the prisoner' etc) but none the less we found it fascinating and enchanting. I've visited over fifty countries and have never come across anything quite like it- it's a truly unique story.

"Good but could be better"
lovely hotel and staff ideal location close to all we needed - fy in the ointment was the food and service - breakfast on the last day was perfect! but the restaurant was overpriced and food was poor. loved the pool every morning and the hotel staff were lovely and very helpful.

"Nice stay, ideal for short breaks"
This hotel is ideal for people who want a nice relaxing break away, We stayed here to travel to zip world over 2 days which wasn't too far and the price of the room was as expected. The rooms were clean and a comfortable temperature. We arrived after check in had finished (23:00) but as I had contacted them due to a delay, they agreed to stay over which i thought was fantastic. Overall a good experience and would stay again.

"Great Location"
This was a great location for exploring Snowdonia, and a very comfortable drive into Caernarfon. This is a grand old hotel of the Victorian era and it maintains that style in the main body of the hotel. The breakfast was very enjoyable and offered great variety. Hot meals could be cooked on request, and the staff in the breakfast room were very friendly and efficient. Our room was in the building at the back. It was clean and comfortable but accessed through a series of passageways, lifts, fire safety doors and more corridors. It was a bit of a struggle with heavy luggage.

"Nice traditional hotel in an excellent location"
The hotel is a traditional 17th Century Welsh Inn situated in the heart of Snowdonia. The location is convenient for all the walking and climbing you would like, but far enough away from the busy holiday areas. Due to its age the building lack the looks of a modern boutique hotel. The room could do with a bit of refurbishment, but the en-suite bathrooms are nice and modern. The bed is enormous and very comfortable. It is very convenient having a pub, restaurant and hotel all in one. The restaurant was always busy.

"Lovely peaceful cottage"
We (2 couples) stayed in Ty'n Rhos Country House for the Easter weekend and decided to also stay for dinner 2 out of 3 nights. We were amazed by the comfort, service, and quality. The location was great, an easy drive to the nearby castles, Snowdon railway, and other historical sites. We took the train from London to Bangor and hired a car there. Hotel staff went over and above to cater for all our needs (e.g. finding car rental, food allergies). Even though we weren't lucky with the weather and it rained quite a bit, we enjoyed relaxing in the lounge and having leisurely lunches. The view over the garden was magnificent. The food was great quality and provided excellent variety. We found the rooms very clean and well furbished with comfortable beds. The rooms were also very well heated. We had such a good time, it was certainly difficult to leave. Highly recommend staying here.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
