Location is great. Center of Tahoe City, across the st. from Lake Tahoe. King room with balcony overlooking a dog friendly golf course and forest in the rear. On site restaurant and bar.

Honestly, I was pretty shocked to see and experience what this place really was like compared to the reviews. My family and I travel quite a lot for our daughter’s club volleyball and we’ve stayed at a few other hotels in the surrounding areas, and I decided to give this one a try based on its “fairly high” reviews. The hotel felt really old and ran down, and the reviews did not match what it was made to be. We were originally given a room(I think 233 or 2something) and the sofa bed was pretty much broken. We took the bed out and the bed was pretty much falling apart before anyone could even lay on it. We couldn’t even fold the bed back in, it took my husband and I to hold it together to shove it back into the sofa and before it closed back up, it took a chunk of the carpet that was already ripped off the floor, with it. The carpet on the floor was clearly ripped before and the sofa was actually there to cover it! Our daughter would’ve had to sleep on it, but we decided it wasn’t safe so we got our room changed to the 3rd floor right above. We did tell the front staff but she didnt even seem shocked or concerned, almost like they already knew! I can’t say enough how old the building felt, the carpets in the hall were all lumpy and rolled up, the room itself felt dark and creepy. We had a living room area, kitchen, and 1 bedroom, with NO AC in the room, only living room had ac, they did provide floor fans but this should say enough. My family and I will not be returning.

We loved our stay, guy who works front at night, friendly and amazingly nice, gave everyone his full attention and assistance. Used the firepits both nights, made smores, met some great people, even had a bear get into our trunk, even though we took all food out as asked! (no damage done) It was really nice having the bar for beer and wine as we didn't have to leave for drinks. The hotel is walkable to many restaurants and the lake is right across the road. Our room was nice and large with great amenities, frig, coffee, tea, ice chest and large tv. My only complaint is I'd like to see the old carpet exchanged for hard wood floors as the carpet was pretty stained up.

Overpriced. Historic doesnt need to mean unkempt, tripping hazards or safety issues.

This a fun hotel in the Old Town Sacramento entertainment area. The rooms are small, as would be expected on a boat, but the entire place is clean and well maintained. Be prepared for some noise from the adjacent area, and to use stairs to access upper rooms. Parking is valet only unless you are willing to walk a few blocks to the parking structure as I did. I enjoyed my stay and plan on staying there again.
