We used this a a stay over between arriving on the Denali date and flying out of anchorage. On the positive side the hotel is well located near the airport and offers complimentary shuttles between the hotel and airport and railway station. The staff were very pleasant and efficient too. The prices were also competitive compared to other hotels near by. On the negative side the hotel is run down and the rooms are dated not well maintained. The hotel is also in not an area I would go exploring. I would not use the hotel for a holiday destination, but it’s a great place for and overnight stay before catching an early flight.

First off, I would like to say the hosts were excellent. They addressed our concerns personally and are very friendly. Our room was not our cup of tea. It’s called the Aurora room. It’s downstairs. While not technically a basement, it feels dank like a basement. A lot of stairs and narrow hall to navigate. Upon entering the “suite” you are greeted by a toilet. You walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom. It’s dark and could use better lighting. There is a communal kitchen downstairs. It’s awkward to run into other people in such a small space. It felt like a hostel. We did appreciate the washers and dryers- two of each. They are conveniently located right outside of the rooms. The owners provided detergent too. The owners are very accommodating. The carpeting in our room was damp - wet. We were told the carpet had just been shampooed. It was wet under the beds, everywhere. Made a small situation smaller as we could not put anything on the floor. It was addressed right away but didn’t dry until the day we left. We stayed two nights. They have plenty of parking. The upstairs is nice but small for so many people milling around. Since we were downstairs, we could hear everything, Noisy. Pros: comfortable bed, laundry, okay upstairs area, very accommodating hosts. Cons: hostel feel, dark, awkward room, wet carpet, downstairs, basement feel, strange layout of the “suite”, unclear when booking what room you will get. Nice people- not our cup of tea.

Excellent location. We would stay there again.
