I initially was a little put off by the location. There is a community centre across the street and there were several people out front and at first I thought it was a homeless shelter. They have underground parking only accessible by room key and security on site and we had zero problems. We easily walked downtown to parliament and avoided that corner without going out of our way. The pool was smallish and definitely over chlorinated but the staff were super nice and it was probably the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed at! Breakfast was also great.

Great hotel with two suggestions

We were very comfortable in our room. Large queen bed with fluffy pillows. Clean large bathroom. Great air conditioning in the room. One suggestion we have is to put pads underneath the legs of the chairs in the dining area (cheap at Dollarama) as the chairs squeal annoyingly every time your guests get into the table or leave the table. Also, you might consider a greater variety of items at breakfast. There are literally no vegetables or fruits other than apple and banana.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and breakfast was enjoyable with a okay selection. However, several aspects of the stay were disappointing. The pool was not well-maintained—it looked dirty and had an overpowering chlorine smell. Parking was another major issue. When I booked, it appeared that parking was included, but at check-in, I was told it costs an extra $18 per night and is only listed as “available,” not included. To make matters worse, there were no parking spots available when we arrived. The parking area itself was dark, poorly lit, and not clean, which made the experience even more frustrating. Overall, the stay had its positives, but these issues really took away from the overall experience.

The room was clean and a decent size. But, the smoke alarm system has flashing lights so when you turn the lights out you see flashing lights . The ventilation and air conditioning system is super loud. There is no restaurant. Biggest drawbacks are the driveway to the property, the super small pool which was not clean and loaded with so much chlorine that is was almost overwhelming. And the property is catty corner to a very large homeless shelter which is almost impossible to avoid walking by. I had kids with me and they found this most disturbing. The front desk people are at best indifferent and inattentive. We stayed for 4 nights and will never stay there again. If I thought I could have gotten my money back I would have cancelled the rooms and booked for more money somewhere else.

The property itself was nice and fairly central. However, near the hotel there are two missions which attract a lot of homeless people and drug addicts on the street. I was told by Ottawa residents that just one block over the area is not safe at night.

Hotel was fine. Staff were good. Room was clean. ByWard market was nearby with lots of bars and dining options. Downtown Ottawa was an easy walk away. The area opposite the hotel was a little run down though and there were some strange characters hanging around a community centre opposite.

The room was very nice; clean, large with 2 queen beds, an area outside of the bathroom with additional mirror and shelf, habdy for preparing oneself while the bayhroom is in use. The location is very good. Easy to find and close to the main access route into Gatineau. Walkable to all locations in about 15 minutes to ByWard, Parliament and Fairmont Chateau Laurier. Only minor negative is the shelter across the road for the homeless/needy.
