Room was small compared to other similar priced accomodations in Japan. Building is extremely crowded and elevator wait times can be longer than 15 minutes without any stairs access. Breakfast is overpriced. Cleaning only happens once every 3 nights.

Being a top tier Hotel in Osaka, there are annoying issues as follows: 1) Check in at 15:00 HS and check out at 10:00 HS ( a spread of 5 hour) It means less time to enjoy your stay 2) Not enough attendants to do the check in, so you are confronted with the self check in ( most of the times you are tired from your trip and would love to have someone doing the check in for you.

Not For Me

Checking into the APA Hotel & Resort Osaka (UmedaEki Tower) with the automated check in system was a challenge at first. Luckily a member of staff was on hand. My room was located on floor 12. Although hotel rooms are generally smaller in Japan, what didn’t help in the APA Hotel & Resort Osaka (UmedaEki Tower) was the room layout. I felt when compared to other hotels I’d stayed in, my room was very poorly laid out. Luckily I was only there for 2 nights. There were 2 things that I felt let the APA Hotel & Resort Osaka (UmedaEki Tower) down. These were * the availability of the lifts (5 for the yellow section- where my room was). These were extremely busy at all hours of the day/night. Offer taking 10 mins plus to get a lift. Let alone getting to the designated floor. * the gym (fitness room). Very expensive (JP¥ 2500 or GBP £12.58) for 1 hour. The gym isn’t that big. It offers a small range of CV machines, weight machines & free weights). Although a lot of hotels in Japan charge for using a gym/fitness room. For the size of the gym and the duration of use. The APA Hotel & Resort Osaka (UmedaEki Tower) prices are excessive! Whilst clearly a popular hotel and though the hotel is very clean and the staff helpful. In my 4 visits to Japan, based on the APA Hotel & Resort Osaka (UmedaEki Tower), this was my first (and probably last) use of a APA Hotel. As there are better hotels out there, offering much better accommodation and value.
