Free parking is a big plus. Walkable to main street, the ferry, the shore, a grocery store and CVS. Super quiet location. Great restaurants on Main (pricy). Makes you feel like you can unwind. If you don’t want to drive for a few days you can walk and find a quiet bench by the water, read by the pool in a cabana, walk up the hill to Old St. Hillary’s, or spend a day hiking Angel Island. I hope the new management can continue with excellence. There are details we noticed: not enough towels or chairs at the pool, trash in some planters, the hot water in the lobby is tepid, the hot tub jets were finicky, room wasn’t serviced for five days, need more towel racks in the bathroom. But the bones are all there for a great property and experience. We enjoyed our time. It was clean. Wifi worked well. The restaurant had a great Taco Tuesday deal. Cheapest meal we had all week.

The man working the phones (likely middle aged white man) is the rudest person I’ve ever had the displeasure of talking to. He was aggressive to the point of being threatening. As soon as you enter the property it smells like cigarettes from all the staff smoking. Good luck dropping off bags because construction workers are taking up all the drop off zone spots. Don’t plan on sleeping because people scream outside on the streets until 3 am - it’s especially loud once they kick people out of their bar. The whole place needs a cleaning.

I have not experienced this level of service in San Francisco anywhere else. The staff was friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. From ensuring we had rides, reservations and the necessary infrastructure to conduct work from the hotel to the little touches of dropping of fresh flowers and providing yummy treats throughout our stay -- everything was so carefully crafted and thought through. And the views, interiors and food were delicious. To bring this home, when i was checking out, I asked if they had a gift shop and sold sweaters because I needed something warm to weat on the plane. When they didn't have anything, the hotel manager offered me a shawl of her own??! It was the most generous act and completely unexpected. I will be returning the garment on my next stay in San Francisco when I inevitably stay at the Huntington Hotel again. No better place!
