This is a special place in the world, they say the oldest hotel in the UK. The staff are great and the food is, too. We stayed in the modern wing and it was dated, but a good-sized room with a great view of the Cathedral. Staff were amazing and brought us additional chest of drawers and duvets promptly upon request. Light sleepers should bring ear plugs. You cannot beat the location, as you have a view of the Cathedral gates right from reception.

The Maids a little Ahead!
This hotel was an excellent choice due to its prime location next to the Anglican Cathedral, with a Wetherspoons 110yds down the road, shops 10 mins walk and station 15. The rooms were of a very high standard and house-keeping take a pride in ensuring customer excellence in the way it responds to needs.

There were a lot of stairs to negotiate in the building, but because of the age of the building, understandable.
Such a well maintained, old hotel in the middle of the most historic part of Norwich. We really appreciated them allowing and being especially kind to our small dogs.

My wife is disabled and uses a powered wheelchair which we believed we had made the hotel aware of through the Hotels.com booking. However when we arrived we discovered that access
The bedroom & bathroom were clean & spacious. The hotel is in a perfect spot - nice & quiet with bars & restaurants nearby, and only 10 minutes walk to the heart of the city.

Awful. Room way too hot & very noisy pub opposite
Room 218 is much too hot to stay in. The outside temperature was 21 degrees during our stay so not hot but the room was like a sauna. The portable air-con unit (even when filled with ice) blew out hot air and windows didn't open for any air. When we complained the hotel was full so we couldn't be moved but the man who spoke to us from reception put the phone down on us (yes, we were annoyed when speaking to him but not rude or disrespectful in anyway). We have seen various reviews online that say the same as us so this room should not be sold if it is this hot. (I dread to think what it's like when its 30degrees outside!!!) We were unable to relax in the room at all and got no sleep. The noise from the pub across the road was ridiculous too. People staying in this room should be informed that the noise is that bad, I know it's a city centre but never before have we stayed in a city centre hotel with such bad noise. The heat and noise combination meant we got about 1 hours sleep. We were given a 50% refund on check out but still resentful as it completely ruined our weekend (my husband had a big cycling event the next day which he needed to be well rested for but obviously wasn't).
bed good, food good. service poor, very noisy around hotel till 12 midnight or later.

UN-EXPECTED DISAPPOINTMENT
un-expected disappointment, Servicing of rooms not complete(coffee sugar, milk not replaced),towels left on floor, reception did not relay messages.
However the food was good. Location good.
BUT-being in the city centre lots of noise from clubs bars loud music and voices uptil after 12 midnight.
Great location ,nice room ,lots of breakfast choices 👍would stay here again even though they say it’s haunted 😬

Stayed here for wedding, on arrival we was surprised with complimentary upgrade wasn’t expecting this at all made the stay even more amazing. Everything was perfect would definitely stay again.
We stayed here for 2 nights to attend a Family function in the area. We were delighted with our choice and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend this hotel.
Second time stay at this lovely hotel which is adjacent to Norwich Cathedral.
Great breakfast, pricey evening meals mitigated by two restaurants less than 3 minutes walk away.
Lots of stairs to contend with, visitors should be warned.
I of the two single rooms, 3rd floor was small and not as good as I would have expected. The 2nd floor single for the same price was much better appointed, hence the loss of one star
The room was excellent, spacious, luxurious, clean.
I had limited contact with the staff but they were helpful and polite. Whilst I realise it's a listed building the outside looks a little tired. Location is very good.
