There was a lot of construction happening on the street in front of the hotel. This is only temporary, but other than that it's a great location for anyone visiting from out-of- town.

Great location, walking distance to everything. Hotel is clean, room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. Downstairs bar area has great cocktails and appetizers. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will stay there again.

I would never stay at this property again. I called to confirm my reservation at the front desk because I had 4 rooms and was hung up on repeatedly by the concierge. After trying to confirm, they told me I didn’t have a reservation even though I had the name, receipt and confirmation number. A man at the front desk called me rude for asking him to try to find my reservation again. While it was finally resolved, I was told it was my fault and that I should know how to travel better - I don’t even know what that means. Elevators took a very long time and many were out of order throughout the weekend. We were charged $3 per bag to store them after we checked out. This had to be done in cash. The rooms were fine but the staff made it completely unpleasant (except for a few kind individuals at check in) but I’ve never felt more uncomfortable at a Marriott and would recommend not visiting New York before staying here.

Comfortable, good location, but small and very $$

The bed was super comfy, room was clean, but bathroom a little tight. The shower/tub was SO narrow, it was uncomfortable. My biggest issue was that they charged us an extra $35 'destination fee' and then gave us a credit for that $35 that we chose to use at the bar. We paid a total of $82 for a glass of wine and a Manhattan. $25 for the Manhattan, $30 for a glass of rose, but the worst part was that they added an 18% gratuity without telling us, so we then added another 15% tip (because I think 20% for bar service when I already paid 1.5 times the cost of a bottle for a glass) is outrageous. My husband complained to the manager when we were checking out in the morning about the extra tip, and we were told they would reverse the additional $12 I added on, but have not seen that credit actually come through yet and I doubt we will. I know NYC is expensive but $82 for two drinks? They should have at least announced that a tip was already added to the bill.

Second time staying in the city and this was a nice hotel to stay in. Convenient for grand central and a few of the tube routes, it's in a great location for midtown Manhattan. The room was clean and well equipped with hair dryer, iron and board and a room safe although I couldn't get the safe to work. Had breakfast there one day but would recommend venturing out and trying the local diners and cafes as the breakfast was expensive for what it was. There is also a destination fee of $35 dollars a night which can be a bit unexpected, but you get it back in credit if you get a drink at the bar or breakfast with them. Will definitely consider staying here again but only if I can get a good deal on the rate

Unhappy!

The hotel room AC was not working correctly. Set it at 63 and it was running at 70. We were supposed to receive two $35 credits and only received one. No response from the hotel. $35 per person for a breakfast buffet with minimal options was worthless. Not one person at the front desk asked how our stay was or if I was a Marriott member. Very disappointed in the Customer Service.

The facility was good, but I had the worst experience. Since it was a consecutive night, I left my luggage in my room and went out, and the cleaning person put my luggage away. It seems that the cleaner mistook me for the check-out and thought I had forgotten my luggage. Half of it came back, but the other half didn't come back in the end. In addition, I lost a precious hour during my trip with this response.

Room itself was great, have stayed here before. But beware of fees and charges everywhere! Had 2 drinks in the Stayton Room and ended up paying $70 for them! Insanity!! Didn't realize there was 18% gratuity added in (shouldn't this be more clear on the menu and on your receipt?!), so ended up tipping $18 inadvertently. Then mix ups with the food/beverage charges and credits, so was screwed on the drinks and the terrible breakfast the next morning. If you don't use the restaurant or bar, would recommend this hotel for the room itself, it was fine.
