The one and only positive thing is that we love the location of the hotel. But the Gallivant is more of a “motel”, low to no internet which should be a standard. We arrived the room TV not working required it to be swapped out and no towels to take a shower. The wallpaper ripped and tired. Spoke to numerous staff members, they too were tired and not interested. There are so many choices of where to stay, pass on this one.

They over charge you an expensive value per night plus the resort fee! That’s absurd, and they give you a recipe without this price! The receptionist didn’t explain and was so rude, she makes me feel so uncomfortable… I hate the experience ! Don’t go

Dirty! Poop on the toilet seat. Bugs in the bathroom sink. There are 15 floors with only 1 working elevator. The air conditioning did not work. The Bate’s motel has a D rated efficiency state certification on their window and we lost power twice. It was 94• the humidity was in the 70’s and there was a day of pouring rain. We COULD NOT be in that hotel! Certainly the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at in NYC and I’m there very frequently. The Ritz Carlton is directly across the street. I chose this hotel because of the location and the price. I would’ve saved more money at the Ritz and had a far better 3 day stay. Stranger Things on broadway was the most incredible show that I have seen in NYC. I would recommend seeing that and staying the hell away from The Gallivant unless you’re staying across the street. I hope this helps someone that reads the reviews.

There was no key available for the entire stay. It was not safe. Only one elevator worked so it took forever to get the elevator.

I tried reaching the Hotel multiple times via phone for days on end no one picks up any phone. You're not able to reach anyone at the hotel to discuss any arrangements or make any changes. Expedia couldn't even reach the hotel

Our experience at the hotel was mixed. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the staff were consistently pleasant and welcoming. Fortunately, our room was on the third floor, which allowed us to use the stairs—because only one elevator was working in this 12–14 story building. The working elevator was extremely small, roughly 5 by 3 feet, and could only fit about 2–4 people with luggage. This caused long wait times and frustration for many guests. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfortable. However, there were no extra amenities like a mini-fridge, which would’ve been nice given the 90–100 degree temperatures downtown. The bathroom was quite small, and the shower design was poor. A short glass panel only partially covered the shower, causing water to soak the floor. The bathroom fan was also very loud but didn’t do much to ventilate. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. Despite setting the thermostat to 65–68°F, the room remained around 78–80°F. At night, the temperature would rise to 88–92°F, waking us up sweating. We were told nothing could be done and were advised to simply turn the temperature back down. Overall, while the staff and cleanliness were appreciated, the lack of working infrastructure and basic comfort made for a disappointing stay.

Elevators did not work, nor did the window air conditioner. The floor in our room was uneven, and the bathroom was tiny. There was no place to sit toiletries, as the sink was a pedestal and there wasn't even a small shelf. The water sprayed out of the open shower all over the bathroom floor, so we had to put towels down to soak it up. The pipes moaned horribly when you tried to turn on the hot water, and on our final day there, the hot water was out on the entire floor. The only thing going for it is location -- super close to Times Square and the theatre district.

Needs new carpet and deep cleaned walls and all

The rooms were nothing like the pictures on the website the hallways have a bad odor and carpet and walls were dirty and stained. Due to our flight getting delayed we didn't check in until midnight so there was no other option I changed rooms from the original that smelled horrible and was filthy also has stains on the walls and sticky stuff on the night stand and ac. After changing rooms the second one smelled good and appeared clean but I still wiped everything down with disinfectant.
