property was clean and staff was friendly - plenty of free bottled water - disappointed there was no place onsite to get something to eat and vending machine was broken. Good news is there is a 24 hour market across the street.

Adequate, little overpriced for minimal amenities
I still get irked about hotels charging a "resort fee" that really don't provide any additional amenities. Check-in and Check-out were quick and painless. I was a late arrival and got a room next to the elevator. The room was overall clean but a lot of things could be upgraded / repaired such as the upper door latch that had loose screws, the toilet paper holders that kept falling off, and the wallpaper in the bathroom peeling back so you could see behind the floor tile. They have a nice eating area downstairs where they used to serve breakfast (but don't anymore) and a rooftop where you can go up and look around but there were always smokers there. The A/C / heater unit kept the room toasty for November but seemed to overheat at one point and had to be turned off for a couple hours before it would come back on. Overall it was adequate but could use some repairs and updating. While it's better priced compared to other lower Manhattan properties, it still seemed a little overpriced with virtually no amenities.

Soho 54 is within a few blocks of 2 subway lines amid many nice restaurants, and it serves good coffee 24/7. The room was comfortable tor 2 old men, and the bathroom was large. The staff is friendly and ready to help. The hotel hosts many international travelers, which made for some interesting conversations. We especially liked The Woo, a Korean carryout that served delicious bulogi, and Pera Soho, which served Turkish influenced food in a gorgeous setting. The area is traffic choked because entry to the Holland Tunnels is a block away, but the traffic is generally slow and easy for a pedestrian to navigate.

An older hotel that could use some updating. A guess would be it was part of a hotel chain at on time now a smaller ownership. However the staff, and all the basic fundamentals work great. I would stay again.

Overall I enjoyed my stay! SoHo 54 is not a notably fancy hotel and the ‘bar’ onsite is inoperable/used as a storage location for guest luggage, though this was a plus since the room wasn’t ready when we arrived. Staff were friendly and personal, and I loved that there are unlimited water bottles for grabs at the front. The room was plain and a little dated, but clean and a good place to rest when needed. There’s a Duane Reade near by and the subway is under a 5 minute walk, both extremely convenient! 4/5
