I stayed at the Paramount many years ago, it was hip and cool. The rooms are small, but the location and the staff were great. This time, the lobby and staff are still cool, but just to be honest, the room was a dump. It smelled a little musty and there were pictures missing from the wall. The AC had not been on when we arrived so the room was very hot. We couldn't get the AC to work at first, but it eventually came on and cooled the room. It was fine for a couple of guys on a golf weekend (Ryder Cup), but I don't think I would take my wife back there.

Ok...was this a 10/10, 5 Star property...No, but based on some of the reviews I read and ratings the property received, I figured I would try and raise their rating. This place is old and shows the signs of wear and tear, but from my experience, it was great. From the check-in process (I was able to check in early and avoid the check bag fee...that I had cash in hand for), to the clean rooms, to the staff's willingness to help out when we had a minor issue, to the checkout...everything was smooth. The room...is small, but I just needed a place to sleep. You are in NYC (and this hotel is right in Times Square!), you walk around all day...so I didn't need a spacious room. Room was clean and decently equipped. AC worked and yes, was loud. But, it drowned out the street noise so it was basically a sound machine that blew out cold air. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Lobby is cool and had live music both nights I was there. Small bar that seemed to have great Happy Hour prices. Elevators...there are 4 of them and they are old. They worked but need some love. Location...the hotel isn't close to Time Square, it's in it! Great spot for Broadway Shows. If you are looking for a place to hang out in your spacious room and take advantage of all the hotel amenities...this isn't the spot. If you are looking for a clean place and a decent rate, right in the heart of Times Square...can't go wrong with this place!

The room was ok. Very small. Also there are no ‘do not disturb’ signs and was woken up twice by housekeeping. I had to ask for a sign. I also didn’t like that they didn’t knock first before opening the door. I’m glad I put the door latch. Other than that, it’s located in a very convenient location.
