"Better than the 2 star rating"
This hotel was clean, quiet and over the top friendly. The front desk, the housekeeping and even the other guests were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms, while not luxurious, were clean and comfortable. The complementary breakfast was more than enough to start the day. The front desk staff was helpful and really did seem to enjoy their work. I will be back through this area as my daughter is in college nearby and would be glad to stay here again. The only note I should make is that it is on the other side of the river from Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park. The bridge that must be crossed to reach that side does have a toll to be paid. So, if one is planning on being back and forth across the river, it might be more cost effective to stay in a hotel on the other side.

All nearby hotels/motels with reasonable cost were booked for parents weekend at nearby college. The quality of air in the hotel was not good...smelled musty.

"Better than expected"
We were in a desperate need for a hotel for part of our trip. Everything in Kingston was booked due to a festival/event on the weekend that we were in town. We finally booked in New Paltz and were a little concerned due to the reviews. When we checked in it was clear they were doing renovations/painting and the place looked nice from the outside. When we got to our room we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, newly painted, new carpet, new bathroom fixtures and the overall feeling of the room was nice. I cant speak to the other rooms, but we were pleasantly surprised by our room. PS. The renovations/painting was not at all loud or disruptive to our sleeping.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
