"Great place for groups"
New owners are upgrading facilities. Restaurant and spa were great. Room wasn't quite finished. Firm beds, new carpet, paint and furniture. New balcony decks. Lovely grounds include golf, tennis, pools, gym, steam room, sauna, nature trails, a chapel and gathering area. Perfect for wedding or reunion.

"Great location for our weekend plans "
We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The kids liked the pool, we didn't get in. The location was great for our plans to go to the waterfalls in NC and to Tallulah Gorge. We would stay again.

"Pet friendly, clean rooms, perfect location"
My wife and I plus a small dog have stayed here many times over the past several years. It is very clean and the staff is friendly. Recent renovations have really upgraded the facilities. The location is next to nice restaurants (Mama G's) and fast food. Also very close to historic downtown Clayton. We usually stay 4 or 5 days and always are sure to take the beautiful drive to nearby Highlands, NC. Highly recommend especially if you travel with a pet.

"Beautiful 100 year old home."
The 100 year old home, with the spectacular view of Black Rock Mountain, is very special. David and Gayle are wonderful. The food was exceptional. Everything exceeded our expectations. Truly a "Select" choice in a Bed & Breakfast.

"Hotel is fine"
I was in town for business and checked-in on a Friday. Was supposed to leave on Monday. The check-in was an easy process and I actually had a neat chat with the fella regarding the extensive security camera system he had. 22 cameras, perfect clarity, which made me feel real comfortable. Unfortunately what I did not realize that it was prom season, so when the kids were there Friday night doing the same thing I did 36 years ago on my prom night, I guess as we get older we get less tolerant. I didn't get to sleep until about 1 and almost missed my business appointment the next morning. Being aggravated, I checked out. I didn't call the front desk because I thought the camera system had audio on it, but it didn't. The girls at the front desk were extremely apologetic, but it wasn't their fault. Like I said, it was prom weekend. I called Expedia and told them the story, they said any refund for the remaining two nights would have to be approved by the hotel. With me 'on hold', they called the hotel and within about 20 minutes I was granted a refund. Would I stay at this hotel again? Yes, I would. Would I be more cognizant of the calendar and prom nights? Yep! If I could give the front desk a tip, I would say add audio to the cameras. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel.

"We LOVE This Place!"
This is our second stay at Skyline Lodge. In fairness, it is a bit rustic and somewhat dated. But it is clean and comfortable and the location and outdoor facilities are amazing. All of the rooms have a porch or balcony with rocking chairs to enjoy the views. There is an outdoor pavilion with more rocking chairs for when it rains. It's fun to hear the thunder reverberate off the mountains. There is a heated pool, a hot tub, sauna and steam room. There are beautiful trails with creeks and waterfalls nearby. Highlands is less than a 10 minute drive with lots of shopping and good restaurants and EXCELLENT gelato at Kilwins. The Altitudes restaurant was closed this trip but we ate there last time and were very impressed with the food for both breakfast and dinner. This trip they had a continental breakfast served in the lounge which was nice with yogurt, fruit, juice, muffins and Starbucks coffee. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is dog friendly but the rooms are limited. Our Golden Retriever LOVED it! Ask about the swimming hole down on Flat Mountain Road.

Mountain Rest is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Mountain Rest, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Mountain Rest hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
