Duck Cove Inn

10289 Cabot Trail, Margaree Harbour - Map
"Convenient and quaint"
We stayed at Duck Cove Inn for one night and we had a pleasant experience. The front desk was friendly and allowed for an early check-in even when their check in time is earlier than most places at 1PM. The room itself was very clean, had a mini fridge, coffee maker, ceiling fan and a desk top fan. The room does not have air conditioning which may be an inconvenience for July/ August stay but it was fine for our stay in mid-June as it does get chilly in the evening/ early morning. There was wi-fi in the room and it was steady and fast. The motel faces the Margaree River and it was a great view in the evening and morning. It was a convenient and clean place to stay at for our hikes in the Cape Breton Highland trails.

"Stayed while on Cabot Trail"
Location off the lake was absolutely gorgeous. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and having the mini fridge was nice. Bathroom was a bit dated. All rooms had an outside porch to sit, which was especially nice. Did not go to the restaurant for dinner, but my breakfast sandwich was delicious. There was also a rather extensive buffet which was reasonably priced at $16. My biggest issue was that dinner was only served until 8 pm, and no lunch hours (although breakfast available until 11). It seemed to be the norm in Baddeck as most everything was closed by 8-9 pm, which was slightly disappointing as the sun did not set until 9 pm.

"Met our needs"
An inexpensive place to stay while on the Cabot Trail. Room was basic, but had everything we needed. Bed wasn't the most comfy, but it was ok for a couple of nights.

"Cabot Trail Gem"
Stayed in a double cabin and it was great. Very clean, comfortable beds though they are only double beds so keep that in mind if you are taller. There is also a queen sized sofa bed in the main area of the cabin though. A large rain storm with 100 km/hr winds came through when we were staying there and knocked out power to most of the island. The propane fireplace kept us very warm (it was near freezing outside) but had no water and couldn't use any of the kitchen appliances obviously. They don't have a backup power generator but Staff checked to make sure we were ok in the morning and brought water for drinking and for the toilets. Staff are very friendly. Interior walls of cabin so not offer a lot of privacy as you could probably hear a pin drop in the next room even with the door closed. Keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper as I am.

Nicely redone cabin, right on Cabot Trail, easy walk to rug hooking museum, everything was clean and tidy. The kitchen is very cramped, however, and the knives are dull, even for prepping salad. We were in the cabin farthest from the office, and the wifi was annoyingly pathetic. Could do with more bedside lamps as well.

Lynwood Inn

441 Shore Road, Baddeck - Map
"Great Hotel in town's centre, close to everything"
Lynwood is one of the nicest hotels in town, and in the perfect location - only a few minutes to walk to everything: Many restaurants & shops, Lobster Lunch, Pier, Waterfront, Post office, Pharmacy, Groceries, Convenience Store, Bell Museum, Town Museum, Yacht Club (Open to the Public, deck overlooking lighthouse & Pier), Legion (Open to the Public - watch sports, music, pool, deck on the waterfront). Room 110 had nice decor, clean, comfortable, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, chairs with table, plus a balcony with a water view. We have previously stayed in Baddeck at 4 other hotels, but will definitely stay at the Lynwood next time : )

Margaree Valley is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Margaree Valley, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Margaree Valley hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
