Great views. Nice size room & comfortable bed. The a/c was marginal. It left the room humid so the sheets felt uncomfortable. The bathroom was clean but needs serious updating. The WiFi was horrible. The breakfast buffet was overpriced- what a free breakfast would be at other hotels. There was no maid service even though we were told there would be because of the length of our stay. Can’t recommend

The staff were very helpful and friendly. However our room certainly needed some TLC: the window frames were chipped and needed scrapingand painting. Inside out initial room there was a taped cracked window pane. We had no microwave just a refrigerator. We had to have two replacements for the coffee maker. .

Beautiful views from our room porch of the Bras D’Or lake. Stunning location. Bed was comfortable but the room needs updating as well as amenities. Also, should have a microwave in the room and extra coffee and tea. Quick drive into town for groceries and restaurants. Location great for both rings of the Cabot Trail so a good base for the 3 nights we were there. Dinner in the restaurant on our second night was very good and the food was fresh and delicious. Staff overall was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there was a massive power failure on our last night, which impacted all of Baddeck. The hotel did not seem to have any generators or means of serving even cold food such as sandwiches or salads. No offers to provide guests with any options for dinner. But there was a tour group which was served food in the restaurant. A bit disappointing. By the time electricity was restored at 7pm, we were told that the restaurant was not able to accommodate or provide any food. Of course the power outage was unfortunate, but the hotel could have provided more help to their guests.

We stayed 3 nights in Suite 16 - entry to this unit is from the parking lot in the back (park in front of the stairs leading up to the unit). PROS: the unit is very large and bright with a king size bed, night tables, two sofas, a round dining table, and a gorgeous walk-out balcony with two outdoor plastic chairs. CONS: The WIFI is deplorable and unuseable, as a result of this the TV didn't work either we couldn't see a single cable show ie; News. We had to use our own data and watch CBC News on our ipad. We asked for servicing/cleaning the room on two occasions and it was missed both times. We were offered free breakfast on the last check-out day but that didn't work for us since we left at 6am on our drive back to Toronto, and the breakfast only opens at 7am. In Summary, we enjoyed this location for the comfortable room, great views of Bras d'Or Lake from the balcony, close drive into the Baddeck Village for restaurants and the grocery & liquor store. If you want beautiful scenery, peacefulness and comfort then this is a place to stay. thanks

Enjoyed our one night here. It is outside of town. We had a room with a lovely view of the water. The room was clean. Comfy bed. Nice outdoor area with chairs. We sat out after dinner. Had dinner in the restaurant. We had been eating so much seafood that schnitzel was a wonderful dinner. Easy to split and ample. Parked right behind our room. Great place!

We booked Silver Dart Lodge two months in advance through Expedia. When we arrived, there was a power outage — understandable — but staff said they were “working on solutions” for dining and to check back. We were placed in basement-level rooms that were clean but dated, with tiny windows blocked by plants and a parking lot view. Once power returned, we waited, then were told the dining room wouldn’t reopen after all, and no food was available until morning. When I inquired again, staff were rude and unhelpful. No alternatives were offered. Disappointing service, poor communication, and a lack of basic hospitality. Would not return.
