This is all about location. Right next to City Beach. My room was on the small side but the worst part is not having any surface space to set your belongings. And the bathroom was tiny. Heat/AC works but is terribly loud. Room felt damp. TV is old and you cannot see everything that should be on screen (like baseball stats).

We stayed here for one night passing through to go to the beach! We got a call earlier in the day that our room was going to be upgraded to 2 queen balcony with lake view so my fiance and I were very excited! When we got into the room it heavily smelled of urine. We’ve never experienced something like this before and the staff said they hadn’t either. We asked if we could have the original room we reserved because the urine smell was very potent and the glade spray the staff had was only making it worse. Thankfully they obliged! The new room we stayed in had some hair left in the shower from a previous stay. But we were just happy to have a room without the smell at that point. The staff was very kind and hopefully the urine smell was just a one off time. The location is super convenient but I think we would just stay else where since parking by the beach is free.

To start, having a balcony overlook the lake in the morning was very nice. We spent most of the day at the beach across the street . It was a quick drive over and it only took a minute. You can walk but I had seniors with walking issues. This was an excellent beach for them because it offered two ramps down to the water and I could push them in a wheelchair. The worst part of the hotel for us was having no elevator, but that was my fault for not booking rooms on the first level. The hotel did not offer breakfast in the morning, but with a short drive down the street there are great places to eat. We really liked how quiet the area was and hotel location to the beach. If you have kids who skateboard THIS is the place to stay. There’s an excellent skate park across the street and playground. If you are expecting a newer perfect looking hotel this may not be for you, but if a quiet clean room in a charming area is what you seek, then I recommend this spot. This quiet location is fantastic for walkers, joggers, and families. I definitely would consider coming back. (There’s a pool and hot tub, but it rained on our second day so we could not go in it. I have no review of that, but it looked clean at a glance).

Great location, but the hotel is not very nice. IMO it’s a tear down and needs a new building. I doubt I’d stay here again even though it’s right on Lake Michigan.

Go somewhere else

This property is just okay. It has a lot of potential to be great, but everything was so old, musty and outdated. We averaged just shy of $300/night and it's definitely not worth that price point. The one redeeming quality is the proximity to the beach. Everything else was not up to par. With ample beach parking, stay somewhere else that's nicer for less. The staff was friendly, but it was overall very underwhelming and disappointing.
