Not quite as special as it used to be. This was my fifth time staying here, most recently before this was November 2023 when we stayed for my daughters birthday. This stay was for my son’s birthday. Previously we were offered a complimentary upgrade and the hotel left a small cake in the room, there was nothing this time despite contacting them ahead of time (I understand upgrades are not always possible). On our last stay there was a fully stocked complimentary mini bar, with cola, crisps, chocolate bars and water… this time there were only two small bottles of water with three of us in the room. This really made the last visit special, especially when you consider the price of a room… it was still the usual excellent service, food and really fantastic staff, but these little touches do take the edge off it and would push me to look for a slightly more economical option next time.

This was the coldest hotel room we had ever stayed in , we asked for Someone to come and sort the heating out, 2 days in a row , no one ever came , when we were checking out I complained and got , sorry but we have been having issues with the heating for a while . If we had been told that when we were checking in we would never have stayed there . Especially as it was winter time which made it worse

Booked The Apartment Suite for a 4 night break for my partner’s birthday, when we arrived we were given The Library Suite and told it was an upgrade, when it clearly wasn’t. We had booked The Apartment Suite as it had a separate bedroom with a closable door as our sleep patterns vary. After complaining I was shown The Royal Horseguards Suite, it also does not have a closable door and like The Library Suite has an open balcony over the living room, not suitable. We checked the Hotels app and The Tower Suite was available for the first night and we were given that instead, which is an upgrade, we could then move to The Apartment Suite a day later, which apparently had been double booked on the “system”. Not a great start to a break and meant we didn’t unpack until the second day. The lie about the upgrade to The Library Suite really jarred. Once we got into the The Apartment Suite it was fine, they are looking a little tired and have “old” tech connections nowadays. The shower pressure isn’t great with the hand shower head pointless given said pressure. Cleanliness is good. The one bright spot being the doormen, especially Parvez I think his name badge spelt. We’d stayed before at The Royal Horseguards and returned due to the good impression first time around, sadly that impression is now tainted, we will not be going back.

Decently clean, good location, good views from our room (garden view room), great service. The bed was queen size but it was two smaller beds pushed together, which left a small “canyon” between the two. Wish there was a fan in the bathroom also. Also wish the walls were thicker, lots of noises from other guests and from what I assume to be machinery near us.

The only down side was the room, it was a premium river view, but was very tired with a number of small niggling faults. For such a premium hotel, and price, the room let the side down badly. I would be unlikely to stay again.

Although a little older in style and the room a little cold as the windows let in a draft - it was lovely - comfy bed, fantastic shower, big room with lots of space for clothes … and the staff and foyer very friendly and elegant.
