I checked in, went into my room, and went out for a bit. When I returned, there was a homeless woman in my room, eating off a dinner plate. The staff knew her by name. The housekeeper immediately called a manager and asked me to go to the front desk and wait. The manager did look, but the woman was gone. He was apologetic, but implied I didn't fully shut my room door, so it's partially my fault. He said she comes there so much she knows all the staff by name. They gave me a new room and free breakfast, but I still felt very unsafe. I'm almost certain I shut my door. Also, how did she slip by staff if you have to have a key to enter any door but the front door? They were very non chalant about it and I would never stay there again because it's clearly not safe to leave anything in your room and someone could go in at any time. I feel for the staff with a chronic issue like this that the police can't do much about, but I felt unsafe and unsettled for the rest of my stay.
